Brett Anderson has always been a ground ball pitcher, but through his first two starts with the Brewers he has a 69.2% ground ball rate compared to just a 19.2% fly ball rate (and 11.5% line drive rate). Brett Anderson seems to stand out as the Brewers pitcher you really need to have a good infield defense setup in order to support.

One of the problems the Brewers currently face is Braun has apparently mentioned (to Will Sammon) that his finger infection is affecting his ability to throw the ball more so than swinging a bat. If that wasn’t the case I think tonight would be a good opportunity to put Hiura at DH and role with Urias at 2B.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Be cool to see Rasmussen at some point in this series.

Perdomo too, sweet!

Offsetting moves:

LHP Eric Lauer has been optioned to the Alternate Training Site. RHP Justin Grimm has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a callus laceration on his right index finger. RHP Ray Black has been transferred to the 45-day injured list.

I realize they are doing the whole lefty batting platoon versus a right-handed starter thing, but I would much rather see Luis Urias in place of either Sogard or Holt in today’s lineup. I think it’s important he receives consistent at-bats/playing time, and I am not convinced they are going to give him that this season.

I understand playing Arcia with all the groundouts that Anderson gets but you have to put Urias in the lineup at the expense of either Sogard or Holt.

110% agree.

Why is Pina getting snubbed? What does he have to do to get more playing time? With so few hot hitters on this squad, why bench him 2 games in a row?

Dumb.

I'm typically one of this team's biggest apologists ... but yep.

The Brewers have the second lowest on-base percentage in the National League (.303 team OBP), ahead of only the Pirates (not including the Cardinals). Urias displayed a good ability to get on-base throughout the minors. This lineup needs to improve OBP, and I think Urias could certainly help them in that regard.

They are also second worst in the NL in team slugging (.365). It's no secret, but the pitching has certainly carried them through the first three weeks.

Counsel is all in on playing righties against lefty pitchers and lefties against righty pitchers. Nothing else matters unless your name is Keston Hiura, Christian Yelich, Ryan Braun, or Avisail Garcia.

That’s how the team was built and they are going to ride it whether it works or not it seems.

Urias and Pina aren’t playing against a good righty pitcher unless Counsell sleeps in and misses the game.

Schedule for tonight:

6:15- Watch Brewers game.

6:45- Pick out a movie to watch as Brewers fall behind by 4 plus runs in first two innings

8:00- Check score to see if Brewers have made a game of it

8:01- Return to movie.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

The offense will improve some but this is a terrible lineup.

Didnt take long for us to be down. Holt should have gone home with the throw. With this offense we shouldn't be conceding runs.

I'm okay with taking the out. This lineup is good. Concede the one because it's hard to shut teams out, and it would have taken a really good throw to get Hoerner. Avoid the big inning.

Plus, 1 feels like nothing after the last few nights.

Not sure why the play wasn’t made at home. Would’ve been a play but I mean, make it.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.
