2020-08-08: Reds (DeSclafani) at Brewers (Anderson) [Brewers lose, 4-1]

Eye Black
Burnes can take Anderson’s spot in the rotation now.

They basically piggyback everyone except Woodruff and Houser, so not really sure it makes much of a difference.

Seems like they’ve basically wasted a great outing from Burnes. Admittedly it wasn’t necessarily Anderson’s fault, the fielding cost him dearly in the 1st inning.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

9 hits and 27 strikeouts in two games.

Gray must be thinking about the no hit potential for tomorrow.

For sure. Woody better bring his bag.

They need to let him hit.

He is a better hitter than 2/3 of the lineup.

Unfortunately that’s not even a joke

To me the thing is your are either young and building or you go all out with the Grandal Moose Greinke type moves the Brewers have had success with. The model of cheap journeyman vets is not where you want to be at all.

They went young-er with Narvaez, Lauer and Urias. Then they had a crap-ton of payroll to use so they signed a bunch of veteran fillers on one year contracts with options that basically have 0 long term liability, which enabled them to extend Yelich. There is a lot of quality young pitching in the system...then build around Yelich, Hiura, Urias and hopefully guys like Feliciano/Lutz/Turang

I would have had no issue with trading Hader, Cain, etc. for whatever quality young position players/starters they can get for them.

Cain is worth nothing in trade. Hader, yes. The trade chips on this team aren't much without trading away our own quality core pieces (Yelich, Hiura, Woodruff, etc). Hader is probably the most realistic big trade chip on the roster.
