It’s a long(ish) seasons still but it’s hard not to be bummed by what we have seen so far. Just not very good.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

I’ll admit, I felt more confident in close games like this last year when we also had Grandal and Moustakas in the lineup. I am hoping Narvaez and Garcia can replace those guys sooner than later.

If you're honestly expecting that, I'm sorry to say you'll be very disappointed.

I said “hoping”, not expecting.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Garcia will be just fine replacing Moustakas who wasn’t a special player by any means. Although I thank him for some great moments. Navaez replacing Grandal should be interesting. The numbers are there especially vs. RHP. I hope he catches well enough though.

Coming into last season I thought the Brewers had a chance to have one of the top 2 or 3 offenses in the NL, but getting less than nothing from Shaw and Aguilar and Cain’s rough season dragged them down to the middle of the pack.

With the collection of journeymen they’re throwing out there this year I don’t see them being in the top 10 scoring teams in the league, even when Yelich and Hiura start hitting. Too many major holes in the lineup.

And it’s not like they have the pitching to bail out a weak offense.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Some bad batted ball luck tonight too. I still think they bounce back and win the series. And 3-3 is fine. Even 2-4, really. Just have to get the sea legs and stay in the hunt. Sure, every game matters, but the format is forgiving.

Also, staring this Friday the Brewers have 30 of their next 48 games at Miller Park. I do think they’ll perform much better offensively when they aren’t traveling under these current circumstances.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Well barring a miraculous comeback, the good news is if the season ends tomorrow the Brewers will have secured a top 7 draft pick!

Draft picks are good. I am also genuinely curious about the trade deadline and whether anything will happen and what the market will look like...

The first four in the lineup on opening day were Sogard, Yelich, Hiura, and Braun. They’re a combined 4-for-49, or .082.

That about sums it up. The three biggest bats in the lineup have done virtually nothing. Many of the newcomers and role players have looked pretty good. Our big bats will wake up so I'm not too worried there.

The starting rotation is my biggest concern. We don't have 162 games to figure that out. If Burnes or Freddy come out shaky next start it has to be a quick hook followed by a bullpen assignment.

This is also really true. Opening on the road must be extra difficult. Good point.

I think 35 HR and an OPS of .845 is pretty special. I don’t see García coming close to replacing that kind of production, and he’s playing RF where you are usually looking for a lot of production.

Short season makes the "out getter" model even more easy to manage. It's worked the last couple years, this year's staff is pretty similar. But scoring runS plural is going to be a chore too many nights.

I know Sogard isn't really popular on this board but he's put together the best ABs on the team so far this year. Which is probably why he gets slotted in the leadoff position.

Yes, Moose had a very nice season a year ago. Thinking those were going to be his numbers again would be very foolish. He has another 10 years of a career that tells you that.
