COVID-19 Thread [V2.0]

Not me. I got deathly sick after Pfizer no 2.

Felt like I had Covid all over again. Fortunately, it only lasted a day. My arm felt like someone hit it with a bat.

Questions are a burden.   And answers a prison for one's self.

Had my second Pfizer on Friday. Sore arm for a day and that was it. Very blessed I had no other side effects at all. Went to the park with the kids and played baseball Saturday morning and felt good all day. Same on Sunday, no side effects went to church and then did yard work.

I had a friend who was like you. Wiped out for three days after his second shot.

I was lucky mine was almost nothing.

So weird the different reactions.

Oh well, glad we are both vaccinated!

50% of the trial participants did not feel any ill effects after their second shot. And they all ended up with the same 90% protection. The human body is complex and weird.

“Vaccinated people do not carry the virus — they don’t get sick,” Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the CDC, told MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow on Tuesday. That’s “not just in the clinical trials, but it’s also in real-world data.”

This is a month old, and the CDC almost immediately said its own director was taking too big of a leap.

Sorry, I posted the wrong link. Notably, this is consistent with what the director was saying in the April 1st article. https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2021/04/cdc-people-dont-always-need-to-wear-masks-outdoors.html

I'm scheduled for Pfizer #2 in the morning.

I'm excited, though a little hesitant because of some of the reactions. But it's important to me to do it, so do it I shall.

How did it go?

I’m a little nervous about Round 2 next week. I was fatigued after the first poke, so I’ve preemptively blocked off a sick day following my next one.

MN setting up a few locations in the Metro this week specifically with Pfizer and geared towards 16-17 year olds. I like it, Memorial Day isn't too far away and it would be a great idea for the tourism heavy parts of Wisconsin to maybe look at High school sites and get those kids ready to work this summer.

It's been 4 hours and so far, I don't really feel anything. Just a little tired, but I think that's more a reflection of being 58 and 20 lb overweight.

My left shoulder injection site hurt more after the first one. It only hurts if I press directly on it. But none of the fever symptoms, chills, body aches that people described.

Good luck with yours!

Now coming up on 10 hours after my 2nd Pfizer vaccine. Arm is a little sore, but maybe I've avoided the symptoms that are a concern to some others.

I had Pfizer #1 on Tuesday and my second is schedule for May 18. There was much less injection pain with #1 than I had with a tetanus booster a few weeks ago, and I had a bit of fatigue, but today I feel normal.

My wife had her two rounds of Pfizer a few weeks ago. Her first day after shot 2 was good, but days 2 and 3 were harder on her. She was able to plow through and not miss work, but her struggles were noticeable.

Got JnJ yesterday, no reaction, just a tiny bit of shoulder soreness. I was excessively tired yesterday evening, but I don't know if that was due to the shot or due to working out three days in a row (because I was contingency planning on being down for a day or two after the shot).

Got my second Moderna earlier in the week. That night I had first uncontrollable shivering and then feeling feverish for about six hours. After that, the only thing I was left with was sleep deprivation. My wife had more mild symptoms (mostly widespread muscle soreness) but they lasted for a day and a half.

  • 2 weeks later...

Notably, the CDC does not have any say on enforcement of local or state mask mandates. One still needs to follow the requirements of their local or state government until those mask mandates are officially lifted.

That said, I hope governments move very quickly to end the mandates for those that are vaccinated.

No masks needed indoors or outdoors for those that are vaccinated, officially:

https://www.cnn.com/2021/05/13/health/cdc-mask-guidance-vaccinated/index.html

Basically the end of masks other than when required by a business, but there you have it.

Yep. And I wouldn't expect businesses to have more stringent guidelines than the CDC. Most would prefer not to require masks anyway, and now they have the CDC guidelines to easily lean on and wash their hands of it. You might see some lingering business mandates for awhile as they transition away from it, but for the most part, that's it.

And IMO, it's the appropriate time. I personally am a fully vaccinated individual and have no discomfort around unmasked individuals with or without knowing their vaccination status. Unfortunately most of the unvacinnated won't be apparent because the vast majority won't follow mask policy anyway, but I have no control over that and believe in my protection from the vaccine.

I kind of liked my mask outdoors when it was cold. Better than a scarf :)

I do get a kick out of the President essentially stating that if you want to stop wearing masks, get vaccinated....at this point in time 90 percent of adults who haven't started getting vaccinated in the USA haven't been wearing masks on their own time since, well, ever.

And yeah, i'm pleased that this was formally announced, because otherwise this never really ever ends. My mom tested positive 4 weeks after getting her full Moderna vaccine regimen, but only found out because she had to get tested as a close contact to a friend who had a symptomatic covid case between her 1st and 2nd jab. She was bummed about it until I reminded her that the vaccine probably did its primary job of preventing her getting sick from covid - she was probably the highest risk member of my family I worried about due to age and other health conditions.

The business mandates and other state specific mask mandates will fall off in very short order, too - for businesses it was all about liability, for certain state and local governments it was just following the herd and/or wanting to be on the opposite side of places like Texas and Florida no matter what.
