That was a pretty darn good football game. Had Herbert not thrown that stupid INT (and it was really stupid) I think the Chargers may have pulled that one out.

Packers open as 3.5 point dogs at New Orleans. That will probably move closer to a pick em as the week rolls along I'd imagine.

I don't know..that That'd surprise me a bit. That Saints OL could abuse the Packers in the run game, especially if Clark's not back and they've got a really good defense.

We'll definitely have a better idea of where the Packers stand after Sunday Night. With SF looking like the walking dead, these COULD be the two top teams in the NFC and it could determine HFA in the playoffs. Which is still huge. Even if there are no fans in the stadium in Jan, Drew Brees with his diminished arm strength having to come up to Green Bay...

On a side note...I'm pretty sure Bill O'Brien watched as people talked about Matt Millen being one of the most destructive coaches/executives for a franchise in recent history and got a little jealous.

Aside from the horrific trades and signings, he's not much better as a coach. 4th and 1 from his own 34 early in the 1st quarter and he goes for it today leading to a Balt TD in what was a pretty close game.

I'm not taking team strengths and weaknesses into account at all. People tend to bet on GB and at 2 - 0 with two blowouts I am guessing that will happen in spades here. We shall see.

As suspected, Saquon Barkley is out for the year with a torn ACL.

I wonder if those two GM's were smart enough to build RB depth behind their studs like our GM did this past draft.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Players dropping like flies this past week. No disrepect to Lane Taylor, but I hope Packers can continue their luck in regards to injuries.

Edit: Nick Bosa with a torn ACL.

And, the 49'ers have to play on the same field that took out two of their starting DL with ACL injuries(I assume Thomas has a torn ACL as well). A field they blamed for the injuries.

SF couldn't have had a much worse first two weeks. Bosa, Thomas, Jimmy G, Mossert, Sherman,...and on and on...all down with injuries already.

Drew Brees looks old as hell out there. I don't think he threw a pass over 20 yards

Yeah, Brees is similar to Brady at this point. Neither have the arm strength to really take advantage of their weapons and push the ball down the field. This should help the Packers defense. They should play a lot of man and be able to pressure him. Our safeties need to really step up though. Savage hasn't played great yet and Amos has been...meh.

Having Armstead and Ramcyk at the two tackle positions should give him time. If Thomas is out...that's a big game changer as well.

The Vikings have given the Saints problems in recent years because they had great coverage linebackers and safeties who can take away the gimme throws to TE's, RB's, and slot receivers that are the bread and butter of the Saints offense with Brees. Brees is still a really good QB even with him being old, but even in his prime he wasn't a passer who was going to sling the ball 20+ yards downfield on every play - it's the reason the Chargers let him walk, especially following that throwing shoulder injury that wasn't going result in Brees finding more arm strength after it healed. Brees' inability to sling the ball downfield is why Taysom Hill gets on the field so much, and it's a limiting factor for the Saints when facing defenses with decent secondaries.

Next Sunday night will be a big test against the run facing a really good Saint O-line. If they can't stop the run the defense will be in for a long night regardless of whether Thomas is playing or not. I should say that even if the Packers' D has a bad night, it wouldn't guarantee them a loss - because I think the Packers are going to play well offensively, too.

Even his medium distance throws looked weak last night. Nothing with zip, everything floated.

Watching Brees and Brady makes me all the more encouraged about the prospect of trading Rodgers in a year or two while he's still great and before any skills start to erode.

I get what you're saying, but they're very different players. Brees NEVER had a big arm and Brady always had a strong enough arm, but never anywhere near the arm talent Rodgers has. I don't think Rodgers is going to decline like those two have.

But even if he DID follow Brady's trajectory;

Brady 37-SB win

38-Lost 20-18 to SB champs Denver

39-SB win vs ATL. Historic comeback.

40-SB loss to Philly(never punted) 505 yards and 3 TD's for Brady

41-SB Win vs Rams

42-Lost in WC game

.....I'd certainly take that!

Obviously that's unlikely, but I also don't think this Rodgers trade is anywhere near as inevitable as many others do. In order for the Packers to trade Rodgers, a couple of things would have to happen. The Packers would have to be heading in the wrong direction as a team...Rodgers play would have to have seen a sharp decline, and in both scenario's, I think they'd have to be convinced Love had developed into the player they'd hoped he'd become.

The Packers certainly don't appear to be headed in the wrong direction. Rodgers looks like a new QB this year in the 2nd year of the Shannahan/LaFleur system, and Rodgers is stepping into throws and not missing guys and throwing off his back foot and like Favre, he'll probably have enough arm strength to stretch the field into his 50's.

So I think it's a very real possibility that the Packers could have Love play out his entire rookie deal backing up Rodgers. Of course all of this is based on the idea that Rodgers doesn't get injured and that during that injury Love doesn't come in and play great.

From NFL.com: Since 1933, teams are 440-1 when scoring 39+ points without a turnover. The Falcons now own that dubious distinction.

And the Falcons were apparently the best team at defending the onside kick and recovering onside kicks the past couple years? Seems like a pretty small sample size, but apparently they spend an inordinate amount of time on onside kicks.

Just the Falcons being the Falcons. It's starting to be a thing. Really time for Quinn to move on. I don't even know if it's his fault, but they're becoming that team that finds a way to lose.

Made the mistake of having espn shouting heads on for a bit. We're on Wednesday and they're still screaming about ATL and that onside. Acting as if these players were morons, didn't know the rule, most embarrassing mistake ever, etc. Maybe I'm crazy, but I totally see what happened. They knew the rule and that if it didn't go 10 yds the game was over. So they were staying away because of that, then all of a sudden it took a right turn and made the 10 yds and boom they're in trouble. It was exactly what the hope was with trying the kick that way. Sure someone should have jumped on it a bit before as they saw what was happening, but I totally get how it happened.

And if someone did jump on it a yard or two before 10 but it slipped out these same people ripping on them now would be ripping on that guy for being stupid enough to touch it before 10 yds. I know it's easy pickings to rip on ATL for blowing that game, but this seems overblown to me.
