Watson's cap hit this year is only like $13M...and there are lots of cuts and movement that the Bears can do to free up money for Watson and Robinson.

What are they to get their cap number below $175M and field a 53 man roster? If they franchise Robinson again, that's $16M...

The $175m is the cap floor the ceiling is not yet known at this time.

Right...but even using that, the Bears aren't in bad shape. That's the number spotrac is working off of.

IF they cut Massie, Skrine, Hicks, Graham, restructure Mack, and trade Fuller, that's 40 million under that number. Getting rid of two of their corners and Hicks might be counter-productive, but it's not hard to see how the Bears can make the cap work if it means getting their first franchise QB...since what, 1950? When did Luckman retire?

They could extend Hicks or Fuller, but Watson would be 10.5 million against the cap if traded according to Pro-Football Talk and they could really backload Robinson. Just for a point of reference, Clark signed for 4/72 and counts just 7 million against the cap next year.

If the Cap is closer to 196, then they've got a lot more room of course, and probably don't need to worry about backloading. Either way, I'm really hoping the Jets are all in on Watson. The Bears get pretty scary over the next few years if they've got Watson. If they don't, Robinson is probably gonna leave. So that's a twofer.

Anyone else watch the Al Davis vs. the NFL 30 for 30? I just got done watching it. Very interesting and informative. I was a little too young at the time to understand all the legal issues going on between Davis and Rozelle. It's nice to have a better understanding of it.

Bears are apparently talking to the Eagles about Wentz. Please make this happen...for no other reason than to reunite Foles and Wentz.

That would absolutely be a great move by the Bears....if you're a Packers fan!

Andy Reid's kid and Chiefs OLBs coach might end up with a vehicular manslaughter charge of a 5 year old kid. That's a great look before the Super Bowl.

Yeah, I read about that this morning. I thought the Kids in the car were alright though and Reid was the one who was in rough shape...much have been an early edition without all the facts I guess...?

Sounds like he was coming from Arrowhead. So it would stand to reason the coaches had a few bears while studying.

Britt Reid has lived a trainwreck life, with drug and felony gun convictions and prison time served. He has multiple DUI interactions with police, he admits to taking Adderall and 2 or 3 drinks earlier. He smelled of alcohol when police investigated the crash that left a 5 year old girl with severe brain damage.

But his dad is a big, lovable goofy looking coach with a bushy mustache, so nevermind. I'm sure the broadcasters will give the story a brief mention and then ignore it for fear of getting on the league's bad side.

Sterling’s injury just happen too early in his career. It’s a shame. He’s a HOF talent for sure. And with an emerging Favre, whoa would that have been ridiculous for the time period.

I've said this before but I've always believed Sharpe getting hurt was best for Favre's career. It led to the development of a bunch of players where prior to that injury he just locked on to one guy.

I don't have a problem with Calvin Johnson. He was clearly a HOF talent. I do have a problem with Sharpe not being inducted. He was too.

I hear that "he only played seven years" excuse all the time and it just doesn't hold water for me. You know who else only played seven years? Terrell Davis. Gale Sayers played six. Sterling was the Terrell Davis of receivers during his playing time. As he put it, put every receiver's seven best years, including Calvin Johnson, against his career and see who deserves the Hall of Fame more. If he hadn't got hurt, I firmly believe he would've gone down in history as the second best receiver of all time.

Does anyone honestly think Calvin Johnson is a first ballot Hall of Famer or am I the only one who doesn't? Yet Sterling Sharpe can't even sniff at Canton.

I have no problem with Calvin getting in on the 1st ballot.

Obviously, I think Sharpe should be in the HOF, but I wouldn't ding Calvin for his omission.

It really would be the most Bears thing ever to have some of the best QBs in the game moving around at an unprecedented level and ending up resigning Trubisky or trading for Wentz, so that's what I'm rooting for.....

Also, Pettine signed on with the Bears as 'Senior Defensive' somethingorother. Can't wait to see Mack covering Adams on some plays!

I don't disagree with Shannon and have always thought of Sterling as a HOF guy. I just don't know if he ever gets the votes. It's a shame.

He's not in because he didn't talk to the media during his career. He can't get it now unless it's by the geezer committee. That it took Owens 3 tries to get in was a joke. He just had the volume that they couldn't get away with doing it forever.

He was good enough over those 7 years that everyone can see he should be there.

Exactly. The main argument is he didn't play long enough. I say seven years is plenty of time to prove yourself. The voters act like he was just some flash in the pan.
