Hopkins signs a 2-year extension with the Cardinals and is now the highest non-QB paid player. I always feel these non QB high dollar signings are just bad for the team that signs these players.

Generally speaking, in the NFL, all big dollar contracts are bad. When you have 50 some other players to pay it doesn't make sense to devote 10-15% of your cap space to one player unless it's an elite QB.

I don't know how bad they are when such a tiny percentage is actually guaranteed money

I think 43.5 of the 54 million in new money is guaranteed.

That said, there are some special players who are worthy of that type of money. D-Hop is as close to a Jerry Rice type player as we've seen since Rice. Anything he gets his hands on he catches and he's an amazing route runner...AND when you spead the money out over 5 years, it becomes less significant.

Also, once we get over this whole Covid deal and the Cap eventually shoots back up.

In the end, this is a 5 year deal worth about 94 million with 8 per year counting against the Cap. When you look at what Michael Thomas signed for, Hopkins is signed for less and his cap hit is smaller earlier on in the deal so that when they have to pay Kyler, it won't hurt as much.

I actually think Dallas manages the cap the best and they hand out the longest deals....something you can afford to do if you're willing to spend the cash that comes with these long deals and then eat some of that dead cap space when a player gets toward the end.

Basically Dallas wants a longer deal so that later in the contract the cap hit isn't as large(provided that the Cap continues to go up as it has every year...with the exception of a world wide pandemic that causes it to dip for a year)

I believe if you have a real difference maker who's responsible, takes the game seriously and keeps themselves in good shape, the earlier and longer you sign them, the better.

It's the fringe players that I'd be leery of. FA's coming off their biggest years(like Preston Smith or Za'Darius Smith before the Packers signed him or Nick Perry). But the real blue chip talents...I'd definitely lock them up long term.

Randall Cobb is on the Texans. Totally forgot about that.

Chiefs fans booed the moment of silence for unity.

And let's not discuss it any further here. Thanks.

If Bill O was hired by the Packers in any capacity I would start rooting for the Vikings. He sucks so bad.

Just an FYI on this- Turns out there wasn't much booing if any at all according to a fan video taken from the stands.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

FOX does nothing to Skip Bayless after his Dak Prescott comments, he even doubles down after backlash, and then doesn't even have the slightest of an apology. Shocking in a time where announcers are getting canned left and right for any questionable comment/post.

Skip Bayless is a dolt and a loud mouth. He's doing exactly what Fox pays him to do, which is stir up controversy and be an..... Expletive. I'm honestly not even sure if he really believes half of the things he says. He has the feel of a guy playing a character.. l He's being talked about, which is exactly what he wants, because now people are searching and replaying the video of what did Skip Bayless say about Dak Prescott?

Was it out of line? Sure. Was it absolutely insensitive and way off base? It absolutely was. Does Fox really care? Probably not.

Skip got the attention he craved. Mission accomplished.

The only way Fox will do anything about Bayless is if sponsors start pulling ads. Unfortunately, most of those sponsors likely also are happy with the added publicity.

Anybody see Andy Reid go for it on 4th down inside his own 40 in the first half? That was not something you'd have seen 10 years ago.
