But having Bears/Packers on isn't bad anyway. Both are probably playoff-bound and it's a rivalry game.

The game will be tough because it's the Bears, but I'm not buying the 3 game winning streak. They lost to the Packers, then Lions, and beat Vikings, Texans, and Jaguars. No real world-beaters (nor playoff teams) in that group.

That's three horrible defenses in a row.

I wonder which game is going to get flexed into Sunday night. There isn't going to be an obvious one this year.

I guess the NFC east isn't playing for a division championship that doesn't affect anyone else because they all suck? That seems like the go to Sunday night week 17 game in recent years. They wouldn't flex Bears/Packers because other games affect their scenarios, correct?

It's kinda amazing that the Giants could get in after starting 1-7.

Washington has released Haskins.

Justin Fields suitors beware.

Fields is not an NFL QB at least what I have seen from him. Maybe he could become an NFL QB under the right coaching but his decision making is worse than Trubisky and while he has a strong arm he isn't all that accurate.

Haskins did himself no favors but it's almost incomprehensible how poorly Washington handled him. Haskins' appeal was always his upside. He simply wasn't and still isn't an NFL-ready QB. Their "plan" for Haskins seemed to change on a week to week basis, they showed no confidence in him and never committed to either developing him on the bench or taking their lumps for a couple years with him as a starter.

Someone will give Haskins a shot and hopefully show some patience with him, he's absolutely a player I would take a dart throw on if we hadn't already drafted Love.

Washington simply expected too much too soon. Not every QB prospect is going to be Justin Herbert. Even Mahomes sat for a year.

I'm guessing this is mostly because of what we can't see off the field rather than his poor performance on the field. The guy had question marks at the draft about his attitude and work ethic.

I've never read anything positive about Haskins' decision-making on the field or movement or even accuracy. By those accounts not an NFL player, but yeah, how many QBs (Darnold? Josh Rosen?) would have had long, successful careers if not for landing with bad coaching staffs.

Haskins wasn't going to be with Washington next year, anyway. Probably best for team morale/chemistry to just cut him now. If he were worth a 7th rounder, he'd have been traded at the deadline already.

So to sum up Sunday, we win or Seattle loses, we're the 1.

We lose and the Saints lose and Seattle wins, we're the 2.

We lose and both Saints and Seattle win, we're the 3.

Also, if we tie, it acts as a win.

If NO or Seattle ties, it acts like a loss for them.

I think both of the leagues I’ve been in for a long time now have been week 17 championships.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

The Saints are down all their running backs. They are moving old friend Ty Montgomery to RB and calling up some dude from the practice squad.

I may be missing something here but Pittsburgh and Cleveland play at noon in a game with playoff implications and the Steelers are resting many key players. If I was Indy or Miami or some other team hoping for a Cleveland loss I would be pissed.

It's a bit odd to me that Pittsburgh is doing this as they are still in the running for the #2 seed. Not as important as in previous years, but the 2 seed is guaranteed HFA for the first 2 rounds. I would think they'll be kicking themselves if Buffalo loses to Miami tomorrow, and they definitely could. I guess HFA isn't really as important as in most years must be their mindset.

But they also haven't been playing very good football lately and you'd think they'd want to get back into a rhythm.

Well there goes my fantasy championship hopes.

What league plays championship in week 17?

Ones that take more thought and strategy than those that end in week 16 that my blind doberman could win?

I'm sorry, but I've been in 17 week fantasy leagues before and it just absolutely sucks. Yeah, there's an additional element of strategy involved, but you spend the entire season building a roster only for your championship to be decided by backups? No thanks. It's the fantasy equivalent of the Super Bowl being played with preseason rosters.

The AFC picture is interesting, 5 teams competing for 4 spots. MIA,BALT,CLE, and TEN all get in with wins, only Indy needs help which is any of the other 4 to lose. Ravens, Titans, and Colts all play AFC bottom feeders which leaves Miami at Buffalo and Steelers at Browns as the likely pivotal games. If Steelers roll over I could definitely see that being a deciding factor in who gets in as Miami would get in with a Cleveland loss. The COVID thing does complicate it as I see the Browns are only 4 point favorites, still weird to me that the Steelers would do that.

Agreed. There is little point to playing a Week 17 championship. How in the world would playing in a league that ends in Week 16 be significantly easier?
