Well Packers are certainly ignoring the "needs"
"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

6th rd draft projection TE. Keep that dynasty draft alive Gute. Maybe he will be the long snapper?

[sarcasm]If he waits until the 6th round to draft the projected 6th rounders, then when is he going to draft all thse guys everybody else was planning to sign after the draft was over?[/sarcasm]

Usually even in a Packer draft that I don't like, I can find one pick that I can point to and say "I really like that pick." Not this draft.

I understand the Love pick, but other than that I absolutely hate this draft for us.

If Gute were David Stearns, I'd be willing to just step back and say we just need to have faith. But I don't think Gute is at a point where his reputation precedes him.

I get liking certain guys but why not trade back or take them later? I realize the mock drafts aren't usually correct but they are normally in the area code for most picks.

We've managed to really reach with 2 picks and sacrifice a pick for the one where we didn't reach.

The experts don't know everything but this draft is going to be pretty much universally panned and graded near the bottom by every draft guru out there.

I logged off for a bit and you guys let everything go crazy... This is going to have to be a "we'll see" draft. Nothing we can do about it now, and post-draft grades won't mean anything.

Thought for certain DPJ was going there with his massively high RAS. Just hope Gute isn't being "too smart" for his own good.

Reminds me a lot of the early TT drafts where they went BPA on their boards and drafted players we’d never heard of out of Bethune Cookman, Western Michigan, Kansas State, etc. A lot of those guys ended up being All-Pros, so hopefully this ends up as good.

But yeah. Uninspiring at the very least right now. We’ll actually know more in a couple of years.

No discussion so far that these guys all seem perfect for what we heard the LaFleur offense would look like. A Henry-type RB, sound blocking TE, etc. Maybe this is a draft to shift from a McCarthy/LaFleur hybrid offense to a LaFleur/Shanahan style offense.

I can wrap my head around why they took Love but these last two are just baffling to me to take a complementary running back and H-back TE. It's like they are building their offense completely toward a run heavy offense in an era when passing has never been so important.

Minnesota just traded and has 13 picks still remaining! 3 for 1 with NO. This is very interesting as the amount of guys from this draft class could be their way to scout this class better vs what you knew up to the Combine. Their first 4 picks already seem to make this a great draft for them.

Blocking speciality TEs are a dime a dozen, you certainly don't reach for one in the 3rd round.

This doesn't bother me in the least. What bothers me is drafting guys 2-4 rounds before they are projected to be picked. I was sad they gave up a 4th round pick yesterday but if they were just going to draft a boderline 6th/7th/UDFA type player anyway then who cares?
