RIP Eugene Kane

JimH5

Longtime Milwaukee Journal Sentinel columnist Eugene Kane died today at 63. The Medical Examiner is testing for COVID.

He was an important voice in Milwaukee media. He reported news and told stories about the experiences in Milwaukee's urban neighborhoods. Milwaukee is a segregated place, and for many of us, he was the source of information about the experience of being black in Milwaukee. His columns told stories that I wouldn't have known otherwise.

He was an engaging and very smart guy and was inducted into the Milwaukee Press Club Hall of Fame in 2014.

Rest in Peace, Eugene Kane.

Used to love the pre-Gannett days of the Journal-Sentinel where people like Kane and Bice actually got exposure and I would have rated the paper a 9 on a 10 scale. Bice is still there, but it seems like his profile is almost non-existent. RIP Eugene, you will be missed.
