RIP John Prine

One of the all time greats, claimed by covid. It’s a sad day for me. His music, storytelling, wit and humor has brought me so much joy throughout the years. I wish I’d gotten to see him perform, it just feels like something missing from my life.

 

I hope they don’t bury him down in the cold cold ground, per his request.

 

And I hope he’s enjoying his 9 mile long cigarette now.

PBS aired his 2018 Austin City Limits show last night. He played 5 songs off his last album Tree Of Forgiveness. Right after that album was released and I gave it a listen, I thought that it’d be his last. Many songs gave the impression of one being close to the end of life and being at ease with it. Watching his performances of those songs on tv shortly after passing had a positively surreal feeling to it.
