Tickets to 2020 Games

rickh150

This took me less than 15 seconds to find on their website.

https://www.mlb.com/brewers/tickets/credit

Yes, they went back to the no-refund policy to deceive you.

I don't know why a person would spend all this time on BF.net complaining about it when you could just make one phone call and be done with it, though.

The May games will probably be handled the exact same way. I'm guessing with an announcement by end of the week.

Again, I don't have tickets in April. It's the principal of the matter.

How did you get to that link? Every time I go to "tickets" I keep getting the pre refund policy. There is nothing in official press releases either. I'm glad that you could find the link, but it doesn't appear easy to get to and there is plenty of other old ticket policy info showing itself as current policy in prominent areas.

Please help. Thanks.

I'm not complaining, and I don't have any tickets to refund. I just said that I can see why people would be angry with the team. I think it would be good customer service from the team to clearly state that ticket holders can either receive a refund or get a credit for future games. That's what all the other teams are doing.

A lot of people, particularly younger people, don't want to talk on the phone. They prefer to do everything electronically. (I'm in the financial services industry, and this is a bit of a pain, since our industry is slow to adapt and still relies heavily on phone conversations or in-person meetings. I'll call people, and they will text me rather than answering the phone.) Also, as I mentioned earlier, season ticket holders have a personal rep, but most ticket holders do not. The thought of calling a "big business" isn't pleasant, as it usually entails dealing with a non-user-friendly voice mail system. Calling a business is usually a last resort for many people.

I'd say the easy fix would be for the Brewers to change the link on their front page. It goes to a McCalvy article, which contains a link to the old policy. Just make a link to the updated policy. Simple.

Oh younger people don’t want to talk on the phone? Too damn bad. And that’s coming from someone that’s not that old.

I'm not sure what you're saying. Do you mean that the Brewers should upset their younger base by making them call the ticket office rather than simply updating their online policy page and allowing them to process their refund electronically?

If having to make a phone call upsets someone, so be it. The Brewers organization caters to the fan base more than most. People complain just about everything in today’s society.

The team is still, mind you, not being very forthright with their ticket refund policy. Still. Call it asleep at the wheel or deliberate, it's still not good. How did you get to the May 1 current policy through the site? Still curious...

Too much complaining? Aren't you complaining about fans asking the team for money back for games not played or rescheduled? The irony in that is pretty thick. Also, your view implies that the written word (team policy) doesn't really matter. It's like not taking your written comments here on brewerfan.net as your real opinion. To get that, would a fan have to call you by phone?

That isn't irony, Rick. You've spent entirely too much time discussing their refund policy when your problem could be solved with a 5 minute phone call. Maybe call them, and tell them the site should update. Telling us won't fix it.

You said you could find it in 15 seconds from the site, correct? I'm trying to give the team the benefit of the doubt by letting you show me how to get to the correct and current information from the official team site. Or are you now saying the site is not updated and that it should be fixed?

Your last post had no mention of me or any quote of mine so I had no idea you were talking to me.

What exactly are you asking for? The link I already posted? You want a site map to it? Why? Just click it or call the team if it's not enough. Good grief.

Yeah, please show me how to get to that link. Oh, I read your link's info last week Thursday or Friday. I just can't seem to get to it now through the website.

I guess I'm having a hard time trying to figure out what exactly is being argued/debated here...

The larger group is saying the Brewers made a mistake with their first communication by not immediately and very clearly offering refunds to ticket holders for cancelled games. Something they changed less than 48 hours later.

Someone else is stating that the Brewers made no mistake, that they didn't change their policy at all because internally they had a completely different secret policy than the one they communicated publicly.

I guess I should clarify- I'm having a hard time figuring out why this is being argued/debated two weeks after the issues has been clarified/resolved.....

Simply because people like to complain.

Well, if others want to keep talking about this, I'm game too....

Because it isn't on the current website... the old policy with no refunds can be found there in its place. Yet the new one, which includes refunds, cannot be found. Oldsnapper gave us the web address (which many were able to easily view by going to the team website, including me, on the day of the change of policy allowing refunds), but no one knows the should be easy path to view this new and current official policy through the website as is right now. It should be in a really easy viewing area via the team's online site since thousands are wondering what to do, or what they CAN do, with their dozens of tickets.

The team seems to be clutching the buck pretty hard, even still, as more and more games are cancelled. Many teams are simply refunding ticket money DIRECTLY back to fans credit cards. This is being done without the fan having to even CALL the team. It simply happens. Common sense says no game....no game rescheduled....no money kept by the team. I'm guessing that the Brewers sales team is doing all they can to keep fans money, or the big picture is to have fans roll it over to 2021 tickets.

Concluding, their no refund policy was just bad.... no refunds and offering credit to future 2020 games (not even 2021) was upsetting to many. The Brewers changed policy the next day and like most other teams now offer refunds. However, the refunds were only for April games, not April and May like many other teams. Now, the new policy, which was up on the website for a day or three, cannot be found by the average fan by going to the website. It appears that the team is still hiding the information in hopes that many forget about their spent ticket money for 2020 or will be resigned to have it rolled over to 2021 tickets. If this wasn't true, the team could have simply refunded money directly to accounts. It would have been way easier and way less headache for the PR department. The refund information would also be easy to find on the first page of the website.

The issue hasn't been clarified or simplified. It was seemingly resolved, but the team continues to show old info (no refunds) on its site. My guess is that thousands of people still do not know about the refund and will be resigned to do what the old policy gives them options to do, or be forced to call the ticket office in search of a refund. The team could easily send money back via credit card to the fan for past games, but that isn't being done either.

Are you personally effected by the perceived confusion?

Seems like debating semantics to me. Most retailers, service providers, etc. will offer 'store credit', etc. first when things go bad or are returned, and if the customer asks, they'll give you your money back. Of course, the Brewers would prefer people who are baseball fans who bought tickets to baseball games to take a 'store credit' to allow the Brewers to give them tickets to other, future baseball games. For a lot of people, that's a perfectly acceptable ask. For those where it's not, they can pick up the phone, and by all accounts, get their money back.

Did other teams handle it better? I'm sure some did. Did some handle it worse? I'd bet so as well. But unless people are legitimately unable to get their actual money back now two weeks after the policy was initially rolled out then changed, isn't the issue resolved? Arguing about the prominence of the location of a refund request form on the website, two weeks later, when you can pick up the phone seems odd to me.

I find it comical the way the Brewers are doing it. The hassle and headache this is for all their employees is enormous. I would hate to be in their ticket office. Logical teams just gave automatic refunds for April and (many did) May too. They used common sense and their knowledge of the situation to see there was a 0% chance of baseball in May. Instead the Brewers only refunded April and now probably get endless calls after each May game passes of people wanting their money back. What do they tell people? Sorry, wait till the end of May and we do the same thing as April?

They are making the entire thing as messy and difficult as possible, for what? To keep people’s money a tad longer? To hope as much of it as possible doesn’t get refunded? It is weird because it doesn’t seem worth the headache.

Sounds like the Brewers are doing a nice job of keeping their sales staff employed. Kudos to MA!

I had no individual tickets in April. I was a part of a school group in April. I have a group and individual tickets in May.

I just want the team to be forthright with policy....they're playing games now. It seems odd to me that any fan would not want the team to be straight with them. The die hard and those watching team news daily know the policy seemingly has been changed to allow refunds. My guess is that there are thousands of people who do not know their ticket options yet. They haven't been paying attention or are putting off any action in regards to their tickets. Moreover, without the team refunding to credit cards, the team will make thousands of dollars at season's end on tickets that were not refunded or given credit to future games.

Even if the team allowed no refunds and only credit for future games, whether it be 2020, 2021, or 2028, and were forthright about the policy, I would not have as much of an issue as what they are doing now. Store credit is commonly given in stores instead of cash refund, but the time frame is usually unlimited. The Brewers were initially giving a credit for just 2020 games in the middle of a pandemic, and as of now the website has the same information.

I contacted the ticket office about this whole mess on their website. They replied an hour or so later.

Here's their reply.

"Our current policy for March and April games is on our website, and can be found at http://www.brewers.com/update, which was updated less than two weeks ago. We also sent an email to all ticket holders that had email addresses on files with information regarding this policy.

For games beyond April, we are still working with MLB on the 2020 schedule, as well as policies and options for customers with game dates of May 1 and later. We ask for you to continue to remain patient while we work through all of the details.

As policies and options are finalized for games in May, June, July, August, and September, information will become available at www.brewers.com/update , and all purchasers will receive an email from us at that time. Any and all updates, ticketing or otherwise, are being posted on that webpage as soon as they become available.

Best,

Milwaukee Brewers Ticket Office"

---------------

I hit the website given, and what do you know? It's the old policy (no refunds). I replied with...

"This is not the current policy, is it? There is no mention of refunds for individual games, whatsoever. The May 1 policy went out after an uproar of fan discontent, but this is not it. Did the team go back to the original policy? Do people get refunds for April games?

They gave an automatic reply immediately after I sent my email....

"Thank you for your email.

This response is an automatic reply. Our inbox is currently monitored Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm.

If you purchased single game tickets and are inquiring about receiving a refund for 2020 Postponed Games that were impacted by COVID-19 (March 26, 28, 29, 30, 31, April 1, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 28, 29, 30): Please visit http://www.brewers.com/creditand fill out the request form.

Any email received requesting a refund to your original payment for the game dates specified above will not be answered. In order to receive a refund back to your original payment, you must fill out the request form. Refund requests will be processed in the order received. Please allow up to 10 business days for processing.

We will respond to any inquiries regarding purchases for games after April 30th within 3 business days.

I responded with,

"Please put your ACTUAL TICKET REFUND POLICY on your main webpage. You are confusing (and maybe purposefully) your loyal fans, and it is making you look extremely shifty. We all know that you want to keep the fan's money as long as possible, but this looks bad. Do I have to ask questions or call people before the actual refund policy is shown?

That website that you NOW show..... how do you get to it from the actual website page? What is the step by step procedure to get there? Nobody can figure it out. Are we just supposed to know that brewers.com/credit is where we can look for a refund? Very shifty...."
