It seems like a pointless rule. Why would it matter if the FA had over 10 years of experience? If someone is giving them a big contract, it seems like it shouldn't matter.

Maybe to give less incentive for teams to move on from older players?

NFL.com has a neat feature today ranking all 20 quarterback classes since the year 2000.

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001108141/article/nfl-draft-best-qb-class-since-2000-worst-lets-rank-em-all

I’ve always defended Brett Hundley and this article is further evidence that he’s an OK QB. Look at all the busts. A 5th round pick, 6 years removed and he’s still in the league? That’s a success by most measures.

The 2017 Packers were bad. Need further proof? They had Rodgers for all 16 games in 2018 and finished 6-9-1. Hundley wasn’t saving that team and I doubt there’s a #2 QB in the league who could have (maybe Foles?).

By no means am I suggesting he’s starting QB material (he isn’t) or he never got a fair chance (he did). I just hate seeing Packer fans use Hundley as a punching bag.

If anything that article dismisses Hundley. He is only listed in the article because they listed all QBs drafted. The author summarizes the year by Winston, Marriota and a brief mention of Siemian.

Hundley was panned because he couldn't complete a pass over 10 yards in 2017.

There were 5 QBs taken ahead of Hundley in 2015:

#1 Jameis Winston - unemployed

#2 Marcus Mariota - backup

#75 Garrett Grayson - out of the league

#89 Sean Mannion - backup

#103 Bryce Petty - out of the league

I’d argue all 5 have been bigger disappointments than Hundley.

Someone in Houston is on the sauce. Jeesh, they are now paying the combo of Cooks and Cobb the same amount Hopkins was asking for over the next 3 years. Why would you trade a WR to avoid paying him, just to acquire two lesser WR for the same price. They had to eat Johnson’s contract in the deals as well so they come out worse financially.

There is no way you can twist their off season in any manner that is a logical explanation.

Deion Sanders apparently does not want Todd Gurley to wear #21 with the Falcons. For a guy who only played there 5 years and left voluntarily as a free agent, I don’t understand why he’d be bent out of shape about it. Ego, I assume?

I’ll admit, I don’t fully understand the Bill O’Brien hate.

He’s won the AFC South in 4 of the last 5 years. The year he missed the playoffs, Deshaun Watson was a rookie and tore his ACL. He previously made the playoffs with Ryan Fitzpatrick and Brian Hoyer as his starting QB. His best, most expensive player on defense (JJ Watt) is always on IR. He went to Brown, so he’s probably not a dummy. What am I missing?

Most people don't have a ton of issues with him as a coach, rather, they have issues with him as a personnel guy. He has 'mediocred up' quite a bit in his career- not great at Penn St, yet gets an NFL HC job. Promoted to GM, despite just being 'ok' as a HC. But hey, he used to coach Tom Brady. His player moves have been historically bad.

Winning the AFC South consistently isn't a huge accomplishment based on how bad Tennesee and Jacksonville were for years. Coupled with Indy's collapse after Luck's injuries/retirement, winning a division at 9-7 a couple of times and consistently underperforming the immense level of defensive and offensive talents on the team equals a lot of dislike for the promotions he continues to receive for some reason.

Panthers extend McCaffrey - 4 years, $64 million

That is a lot of money to pay a RB. I predict they'll run him into the ground in 3 years max. If you thought their offense ran through McCaffrey a lot last year, just wait for this season with Captain Checkdown at the controls.

Obviously McCaffrey is awesome, but it still surprises me that rebuilding teams extend their star RB instead of trading them away. By the time Carolina rebuilds and is good again, McCaffrey will either be burnt out or close to free agency again. With the career of a RB so short and fickle, I don't understand the value of trying to build a team around a RB when there's no other talent on the team to begin with. Send McCaffrey to the Lions for the #3 pick and both teams would be better off.

There's an easy answer to this. Marty Hurney is a terrible GM.

Carolina could also lose a lot of fans. There is some monetary value in keeping your favorite players around; especially when you have no one else to pay. Losing Newton and McCaffrey in one season would be pretty devastating for fans.

Sad to see anyone die so young (36).

McCaffrey isn't a prototypical running back though. He is used so much in the passing game. He's kind of like an H back that is also elite at running the ball. Still, I'm sure he's taken a pounding and I'd be surprised if he lives up the this contract.

Wonder what the Packers will do with Aaron Jones? Trade him to Houston for like 7 picks maybe :)
