Our school district here is shutting down at least next week, perhaps longer. Now I've got to try to get a flight home from the coast before they shut down flights altogether and I'm stuck in the village with nothing to do. Shouldn't be a problem, the wind is only blowing 30 knots today.

My district is still going, however, they are dropping like flies now, just a matter of time... 4 weeks seems a bit overblown, why not do 2 weeks, then re-evaluate?

I'm sure they talked to health department and got a recommendation.

Giannis has pledged $100k to Fiserv workers.

I know I have seen other guys do this too, but I love reading stories like this. Yea, its a drop in the bucket to these guys, but it really makes a difference in the lives of us 'average' people.

Pretty amazing to see the list, and being in Sheboygan find out a confirmed three cases now here. Yet no announcement.

Won't really affect me personally, at least not nearly as much as some others, but lord is this bad. What are daycares going to do? Probably getting inundated right now, but if people go that route it defeats the ENTIRE purpose of this.

That's just it. I get closing schools. It makes sense on the surface. Except all the kids, instead of congregating at school, are just going to congregate somewhere else like daycare or the library or the YMCA or whatever else is going to remain open. Not to mention the hassle this is going to cause parents that are now going to have to figure out childcare. Not just the potential monetary cost of it but the logistics of it.

This is extremely different. Daycares close for snow days and scheduled off days, but an entire month hiatus is something else. It's just not possible that every household has somebody able to watch kids for a month. If the kids are older, they can be alone, but for those 4-9 year olds that can't be unsupervised there is going to be an issue.

There is going to have to be somewhere, for some people, for kids to go. Some will lean on family and neighbors but some of these places are going to have to remain open unless there is a government aid or job protection or both for people that can't work.

Will be curious to see what happens with my district in AZ. Still only 3 cases in the Valley despite 5 million people plus tourists. Lots of parents called their kids out today. We have spring break for the next week, but kind of expecting online or closure after that.

It is very different, but I can tell you many are considering the decision to close and some will definitely follow through with that.

Not to mention daycares aren’t really an answer for school aged kids...those places are usually packed full as is. They don’t have the room to take on K-4 or whatever you deem necessary to be watched. Good luck getting a kid into daycare right now.

It's not that black and white though. The one my kids attend does take kids ages 2-9. They have the capacity to do that, but the place clears out from 8-3 for school, obviously. They take those kids on full-time during the summer. My kids won't be going, but I imagine right now they have to decide to a) close, and take on an enormous financial loss. b) stay open, make a lot of money, and jeopardize the entire purpose of this whole thing.

I am glad I'm not them. I anticipate they will in fact close, but one way or another there are going to be large groups of people congregating. If that means 8 kids going to one stay at home mom's house, it's still going to happen.

I was already hearing about schools banning kids for extra time if they find out they traveled for SB. I am not so sure other parents will be happy about a daycare kid coming back to school after this hiatus.

Crazy times. I can’t believe I’m going to be off working for the next whole month. Bummed as it was my first season as a head coach for baseball too. Stinks. Strange times.

Even if one parent is able to take off work way too many people live pay check to pay check. They don’t have any type of emergency fund.

We got a staff email that we shutting down next week and the week after that was our spring break so we planned on being down a minimum of two weeks but they said possibly up to four and they would re-evaluate after that. Now we know we’re done until the 6th which I fully endorse and was saying we should do yesterday.
