Packer Offseason Thread: Latest- Packers Sign Kenny Clark- 4 years/$70 Million

You're right, I shouldn't have said last year. Oddly the article I got it from doesn't note any particular year. It noted an 80% success rate on curl and out patterns, which are staple Slot patterns. Also was 55 of 55 as a target when he was specifically playing from the slot. His 23 drops all came when he was lined up on the outside.

Tyler Ervin back on a 1-year deal, per multiple reports.

Nice move IMO. He injected some much-needed life into the return game at the end of last season, and I like his speed, wiggle and pass-catching ability as a 3rd down back and perhaps in the slot.

Very glad to see this. Love his potential.

Didnt realize he wasnt still under contract. I figured he was controlled another year or two even. No Brainer. He looked every bit a capable returner.

Interesting info, thanks for clarifying. It would be encouraging to see GB utilize him that way (i.e. slot WR).

Occasionally, I see someone picking the Packers to draft a short "slot" WR, but I really don't see that happening. I think "big and fast" is the goal for our WR type now. Granted, Funch isn't fast, but he is also a stopgap FA filler too.

It's weird that financials haven't come out on this deal yet.

Re: Funchess

My understanding it’s a one-year, $2.5 million deal for Devin Funchess with the #Packers — $1M signing bonus, $1.2M base salary, $50K workout bonus and $15,625 for each game active. Another $3.75M available in incentives, so max is $6.25M.

Cap hit should be approximately $2,265,625. That is a steal for a guy with that kind of potential. If he balls out this year and gets paid next season, Packers recoup up to a 3rd round pick as well.

Even if you don't love the funchess signing it is hard to be mad at those numbers.

Allison to the lions. never lived up to his potential. normally i'd say best of luck but since he is going in division, i'll pass.

Cool name. Not a great football player. Glad we're moving on from him. Couldn't get separation, didn't run clean routes a lot of the time. Guy was an undrafted FA, so that the Packers got what they did out of him is probably somewhat of an accomplishment.

The guy was a UDFA who managed to stick on the same NFL roster for 4 years. That’s a huge win. It’s not his fault the team didn’t draft anyone better to move him down the depth chart. Good luck to him.

This. He has lived up to and produced more than you’d expect. He’s just not good enough to be a source of production on a contender.

Yeah, Allison has more than lived up to his potential because he never had much. Even as a prospect, he was a slow plodding receiver who can't separate and whose best attribute is that he'll block and is a good guy.

The fact that he was able to not only make a roster in the NFL but somehow turn in a lengthy career rather than playing in Canada or the XFL is nothing short of a miracle.

My biggest problem with him last year was the Packers kept throwing those quick screens to him and he has such a slow first step they were always wasted plays. He also had 2 or 3 big fumbles although I think one of them was reversed as his knee was down earlier in the play. I thought he was the worst player on the team by the end of the year.

I think Ben Fennell posted on Twitter that Funchess could take a lot of the routes that Graham ran. It's not like Graham was blocking anyone anyways so not much of a downgrade as far as that goes. Tall dude that can match up with LBs.

While the running the same routes makes sense... a la Jared Cook, I was surprised at how much blocking Graham actually did last year...and wasn't horrible (for the plays I saw anyway).

I thought the same thing. He looked better than I thought...at times. Though I believe he was rated as the 2nd or 3rd worst blocking TE.

The Packers are going to need an MVS, St. Brown, Tonyan, one of those guys who's athletic and has a lot of upside to break out next year regardless of what they do in the draft. I'm really hoping they grab either Jones the OT from Houston or Laviska Shenault in the 1st round...with Jones being the preference. But unless they end up trading for a WR'ers(really wish they'd have talked to the Texans) they're only going to get so much from whatever rookie they draft.

The NFL (in conjunction with the Pro Football HOF) released its 2010’s All-Decade Team today. Rodgers is the Second-Team QB behind Brady and was the Packers’ only selection. I find it amusing that the team with the decade’s second best record only had one selection out of 54. That really speaks to how far Rodgers has carried this team the past 10 years.

For the sake of comparison:

Packers:

102-56-2 (0.644); 10-7 Playoffs; 1 SB Win

All Decade Team: Aaron Rodgers

Seahawks:

100-59-1 (0.628); 9-6 Playoffs; 1 SB Win

All Decade Team*: Marshawn Lynch, Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, Pete Carroll

* Plus a future HOF QB on a rookie contract

Why does Pete Carroll get more love than Mike McCarthy?
