Cutting the cord

This is devastating news. I want to watch the Bucks and the Brewers. Thats literally all I want to watch. Anyone have any advice?

The advice is, basically, Hulu Live TV or AT&T TV NOW ... until those services ultimately drop it as well. The speculation is that Hulu Live TV might be safe for now, as it is a Disney-owned company, and Sinclair literally just bought the Fox RSNs from Disney 6 months ago.

Hulu Live appears to be the next best streaming solution if this doesn't get worked out. I'm hoping the fact that Youtube TV is the sponsor of things like the World Series and the NBA finals means that they'll continue to actually try and carry the teams that are trying to compete in these events.

its probably the way to go, I went with youtube tv because hulu tv doesn't stream through my PS4. I think by just buying a roku stick and switching is what I am going to do.

Both YouTubeTV and Hulu Live were/are about $55/mo.

The way I may end up going is:

1.) One of the Sling packages to get some general channels for $30/mo (+ perhaps the $10 sports addon to get MLB Network),

2.) MLB.TV single team package for $94 (or get all teams for $120), and

3.) NBA League Pass single team package for $18/mo (only needed for appx 6 months per year).

That adds up to basically a $47/mo package over the course of a year ($57 if I tack on Sling sports). That said, I'm also in Maryland, so MLB.TV and NBA League Pass may have blackout restriction problems for others.

At this point, I've got to assume Sinclair's pricing is getting out of control. Whatever the case may be, they'll continue to point the finger at each other all the while it's the consumer that's being punished. Glad I have Hulu Live.

Bummed about the YouTube TV news because I was about to pull the trigger on switching to that option (currently have DirecTV).

I really wish I could just pay for a version of MLB.tv that allowed in-market viewing of Brewers games.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Spectrum has a streaming service, does anyone know anything about it? I went from like 6 or 7 options down to Hulu live or Spectrum.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think you're getting Brewers baseball with Spectrum live. It's a bunch of crap like extra innings and MLB Network. I can't imagine they'd give away their golden cow with the streaming service. Those regional sports networks are the only thing keeping cable TV afloat. The rest of it's crap or can be had for peanuts.

For what it’s worth fs Wisconsin is still on YouTube live. I thought it was gone starting today?

They announced late last night a temporary extension while they continue to negotiate a long term deal.

Pretty sure that's what happened with Sling too. There was a short extension (

We've reached an agreement with Sinclair and we’ll no longer be able to offer FOX Regional Sports Networks in select areas as of March 5th. If your area is impacted by a channel loss, you’ll be notified in the YouTube TV app soon.

Sounds like only YES Network, Fox Sports Prime Ticket and Fox Sports West will be dropped. My understanding is that all other RSNs will continue to be available going forward, including Fox Sports Wisconsin.

Also, seems like YouTube TV is currently offering another extended 2 week free trial to new users, so if anyone hasn't tried them yet you have until March 15 to take advantage of this free trial.

Very happy about this development. Hopefully it's a long term deal for the smaller regional sports networks like Fox Sports Wisconsin. Bummer for the fans in LA and NY and I'm assuming they won't be picking up the Cubs new channel as well.

Me too. Really odd though that YouTube TV isn't releasing a list of those Sinclair RSNs that they'll continue to carry. All they are telling people is that if they are losing their RSN, they'll receive a notification via their YouTube TV app.

Looks like they have sent an email out today on this:

I am in the Fox Sports Arizona I believe it is region.

Hi there,

We recently announced that FOX Regional Sports Networks would no longer be available on YouTube TV. We have since come to an agreement with Sinclair that will allow us to continue to carry FOX Regional Sports Networks in select areas.

Your access will not be impacted as previously communicated. You will be able to continue to watch live, on demand, or recorded content from your local FOX Regional Sports Network.

Thanks for your patience,

The YouTube TV team

This happens every few years. Deals get worked out and the customers are happy (for the most part). Wash, rinse, repeat.

With the streaming options, people can now jump from service to service every month. I like choices and options. Now... if I can get Sunday Ticket on ANY platform except Direct TV...

With the Bucks and Brewers starting up again, I need to find a streaming service. Any suggestions on which one I should choose? Leaning towards Hulu live because of price.

I am leaning the same way, as I already have the Hulu/Disney/ESPN+ bundle. The last time I used Hulu Live TV, though, (probably August 2019) I was really disappointed in the platform. The YouTube TV one is very good.

YouTube increased their cost but I have some friends that enjoy that platform.

I just have a hard time justifying the $50 or whatever it is to get literally one program I'm interested in seeing and can't catch every night. Hell I'd give them $15 a month for JUST the telecast of the games.

This thread made me realize I haven't watched any live TV since before the pandemic. The last time was probably part of a Bucks game sometime in February.

I agree with your comment, I would drop the $60 for MLB.tv in a second if there were no blackouts. I don't want any other live TV or live sports or anything, just MLB. It's kind of amazing that the regional sports network model hasn't collapsed yet. Instead they get $0 from me, I watch less baseball than I would otherwise, and when I watch baseball it will be on some sort of bootlegged stream.

I generally:

- Buy MLB.TV, though I'm out of the Brewer's market

- bootleg the Buck's games - though my Roku TV has a Buck's app that we watched a few games without announcers and just seeing 6 different cameras. It was both cool and annoying.

- Pay for a month or so of Sling TV for the Buck's playoffs.

- Pay for NFL Replay - I can watch all Packer Games moments after the game is played (generally Sunday night for me). It isn't live, but I got used to DVR-ing the game and hate watching the game live anyway.
