I have cable and cable only.

I have no need for anything else.

Kids are grown and gone, no need for Disney.

No interest in netflix or any of those other services.

Cable has all I need, and no stress for Brewer games.

People are streaming etc. because cable is so expensive, yet it seems that the costs to go the streaming route are equal to or more than cable.

Buying special tvs, paying for multiple streaming services, and the stress of trying to watch Brewers games that may or may not be there on any given day just isn't worth it to me.

I realize it's worth it to others, all that hassle, but all I do is turn on my tv, and there the Brewers are.

No scrambling to find a service, no switching services, no buying special equipment.

Just turn on the tv, like magic.

I have 4 Roku TCLs. I would have to just quit YTTV. Said I would quit after the price hike to 65 (didn’t) and after they lost FSNs (didn’t) but this would be the final strike

Would be kind of annoying. I bought one of those cheaper TCLs for this reason because I wouldn't need to waste money on an Apple TV or similar. I think I would just buy a cheap Apple TV to bridge to gap at that point I suppose. Don't think I feel like switching to Hulu as YTTV has a better line up for my tastes.

Have you checked out Sling?

The single stream limitation for the orange channels would be a deal breaker, unfortunately. From my understanding I would likely run into problems trying to chuck 3 different games up onto three different TVs in my basement. Of course maybe a lot of the NFL carrying channels or march madness channels would be on the 'blue' side of sling. Regular season basketball/football for college would almost surely be a problem though.

...I know...first world problems.

Ah, I only have one TV. Didn't even think about that :)

For the Roku users... if they do pull YTTV support, chances are the current version of the app will still work. Spectrum went through this too, and people were still able to use the app. Just don't delete it.

I'm still kicking around the idea of ATT TV or going back to cable. Being a minute-plus behind on the Bally app takes some of the enjoyment out of it for me.

$180 plus change.

Includes internet and a landline.

Yah, this is honestly one of the only major things about streaming that bothers me.

You just can't hit refresh crazy often on the IGT or just don't allow my dad to come over with his stupid sports app pinging every time someone scores in the game. I don't know how he watches a game on delay and still have his stupid app giving notifications.

Regarding ATT TV, are you sure that wouldn't have a delay too? I only ask because it kind of seems like ATT TV is more like a streaming service using internet, so I would think it would have a long delay too. That is how it was with Hulu/YTTV before they dropped RSNs.

Laughing, because my Mom used to do the same thing, until I asked her to silence the app when I'm watching with the parents. One of my favorite things to do is pause "live" TV sports and try to sync it up to the radio call of the same (mainly Brewers and Badgers). That also means staying away from social media & any online box scores while watching that way. Lamenting that I can't do that right now, since my TiVo died last week....which is how I found out the hard way that Spectrum's app hasn't been available on Roku since December. (Fortunately, I have a Samsung Smart TV, so I can use that app for live TV.)

Thinking about switching to TDS, which is a smaller Internet provider in my area that also bundles some version of what I assume is streaming cable (and I know has packages which include Bally Sports & BTN). They just rolled out fiber networking in my neighborhood last year. Anyone have experience with them?

It would, but it's not as bad of a delay. The latency on YTTV is about 35 seconds, I have seen similar for ATT.

One thing that I'm really starting to like about YouTube TV is that you can turn something on well after it starts and skip back to the beginning. Not so with cable.

Still wish it broadcast in 5.1 surround sound and not 2.1.

To add to this, I'd say Roku users shouldn't worry too much about this, Roku and Google are playing their game of chicken but Roku will cave, they're not going to want to lose market share to other streaming devices and YouTube TV is too big of an app for them to risk not being able to offer their user base. I can't imagine Roku would risk losing app support for longer than a day or two and I really don't expect it will even get to that point.

This is also a reason to be somewhat diverse in the use of streaming devices in your home. They're fairly cheap, having an Amazon Fire TV Stick or Chromecast with Google TV as a backup shouldn't hurt your wallet that much. I'm not saying you should have a backup for every tv in your home but at least one extra device will cover you in a pinch if something like this happens from time to time.

As far as time delay on AT&T TV there definitely is one and I've noticed it more than once when following along in IGTs. It is still annoying enough where I wouldn't consider that a better alternative to the Bally's app, if the delay bothers you there it will still bother you using AT&T TV.

I feel like there's a similar delay with all the streamer systems. Yeah, it's a little annoying to follow the IGT or Twitter at times while watching via AT&T TV, but that is very much a "first world" problem. I'm just happy to have a way to watch Brewers baseball right now that isn't a stolen, illegal Reddit stream that is probably pumping my laptop full of viruses and spyware LOL.

Exactly, it might be a bit annoying but I'd rather be watching than not.

I actually did try out the Bally's app for a little bit the other day and it felt like the picture quality wasn't quite as good as what I get with AT&T TV. I'm not sure if that was just a momentary thing or what but I went back to AT&T TV the picture looks pretty good there.

Roku and Google could not come to an agreement. I was really hoping to get another cheap TCL Roku to use on my patio this summer.

“Our commitment is to always put your interests first and therefore we will continue to offer existing users access to YouTube TV unless Google takes actions that require the full removal of the channel. New subscribers will not be allowed at this time. It is also important that you do not delete the YouTube TV channel as it will not be available for download to Roku devices.”

I had been using my dad's fox sports go to catch a couple games but that suddenly changed to a Bally app that I can't get to work for the life of me. At this point I'm content with radio when I can catch it. I just don't watch enough TV to justify any service. I have a free MLB.tv app but I don't even want to pay for a VPN. It's one of those things that sounds good, then once I get it I use twice a year.

This is 100% about Roku's self interest, this is the same argument cable companies use when they are in dispute with a particular network or channel, except with the cable model they actually pass the cost along to the consumer. The Roku streaming device model doesn't work that way.

This is Roku's hint that at some point in the future they will charge customers a fee to download apps on Roku devices.

If that is true, then the people with Roku TVs will not be happy... At least you can still plug something into an HDMI port.

I don't think Roku charging for app downloads is something that will happen anytime soon but that's the direction it seems to be heading.

It's all about the percentage of money Roku receives from customers that sign up for a subscription directly through the Roku app. That percentage is money Google agrees to pay Roku for those exact transactions, point being that Google is gaining a paying customer directly due to Roku making that app available. Roku can demand a fee for that and it's a huge factor in how they make money.

Which is absolutely fair, it's just the comments they're making to the public are attempting to deflect blame from themselves and onto Google when they in fact actually do share the blame and are behaving heavily in their own self-interest.

I don't expect this stalemate to last long but what do I know, I didn't think it would get this far either. It's just depressing that the same old cable model tactics are now rearing its head in the streaming world. Guess that shouldn't be a surprise either.

At least with streaming apps there is competition between them all. In many places you have one cable option and that is it. Not as much room for error in the world of streaming services and negotiation tactics.

Good point.

I have cable because I insist on being able to watch live Brewers/Wild/Badgers, etc. I also pay for Netflix and Prime. One of my buddies has Hulu and another HBO max. We all share and I get access to the others. That's been nice. My buddies used to be able to use my Spectrum password as well, but I am not sure they are still able. If it wasn't for the Brewers...I would probably ditch cable. It is annoying that I have been a customer for 17 years and all I've gotten is a bill thats gone up around 70+ bucks.
