Discuss non Packer games here.
"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

I'm going to be very interested watching Vikes/49ers. On top of the obvious reason for watching to see who the Packers might play in the NFC championship game if they beat Seattle, I think the Vikings' defense is pretty well equipped to force Garoppolo to make plays with receivers beyond Kittle and Juszczyk, their stud TE and fullback combo. I think Kendricks is the best pass coverage linebacker in the game, and having a really good safety in Harrison Smith behind him should limit the easy throw big plays San Francisco typically can rely on with plays desgined to go to these two players. It wouldn't surprise me to see the Vikings turn Garoppolo over a couple times and keep the game close.

On the other hand, I can see San Fran's D-line just dominating the Vikings and making Cousins look like he did against the Packers a few monday nights ago - even with a reasonably healthy Cook in the backfield running the ball.

Depends which Vikings show up. If last week's Vikings show up it'll be a good game. If the other 4-5 week version shows up they will lose by 30. I think if the good Vikings play, they are better equipped to beat them than the Packers are, for the reasons you stated, and that they have Cook and don't pretend Allen Lazard is a #2 WR.

It's hard for me to see that offensive line holding up against SF though. How the Packers got so badly manhandled by them is still troubling.

IF the Packers head back out to SF for a rematch with the 49ers, I think their best shot would be to spread them out while running a sugar huddle to limit them subbing personnel and hope Rodgers plays out of his mind - even if the Packers are best suited to a balanced offensive approach, I don't like how they match up with the 49ers front 7 in standard personnel formations. The best way to stifle a talented pass rush is to keep them on the field after they get winded. I don't think the Packers necessarily have enough talent in the receiving corps to rely on it all game long, but going to a 4-wide, 1 back look where Jones could occasionally motion out wide would be interesting to see.

In their first matchup the Packers' D performed pretty well until they were gassed, because GB's offense couldn't do anything to even stay on the field. Definitely would need to bring a different game plan to Levi stadium to avoid history repeating itself.

And quick passing game like the Pats do and what GB has done in the past when Rodgers is hurt and immobile. They can't handle that pass rush, have to get the ball out, quick 5-7 yds at a time, dumps to the RB, etc.

Vikings hanging around here, but look quite overmatched when they are on offense. Four first downs and well under 100 yards of offense in that half; I keep waiting for the dam to burst and San Francisco to go up by several scores, but Minnesota’s D is playing tough. 49er pass rush looks ferocious, but then again, Minnesota’s O-line isn’t phenomenal.

Not sure what to glean from this from a rooting standpoint. I expect any NFC Championship matchup to be tough.

I really don't see any way the Packers beat SF. A moral victory would be not embarrassing themselves again. They have to beat Seattle first but I just don't think that team is good enough to beat SF.

+1... Short of a bunch of 49ers turnovers it's at least a two-score game.
