What's bugging you? (2020)

hawing

All those bar type pizzas are pretty much the same to me, but they're all very good. You usually see them retail for anywhere around $9-$11 but similar to Turbo I'm only buying them for around $5.

For as much as they hype them I think Kwik Trip pizzas are extremely overrated. I bought a sausage and pepperoni regular crust there on sale for $7.99 and was mad at myself for spending that much. It was so bad I threw most of it away and I love almost any pizza. The only pizza worth getting from Kwik Trip is their thin crust chicken alfredo when it's on sale for $4.99.

I'm not a fan of Kwik Trip pizzas either. If I get one, it will only be the thin crust, their normal version is just not good.

I have a buddy that lives in Iowa and he says the pizza at the Casey's gas stations is awesome.

Good to know, we are getting a Casey's in Appleton. I have never seen one in Wisconsin, pretty ballsey to put one in Kwik Trip land.

I have friends in Iowa and that's what they get when they get pizza. I've had it, and it's pretty good. Good price for already cooked takeout pizza too.

I lived in a village of under 600 people in Iowa for four years. At the time, a pizza place other than Casey's was a 15-mile drive to either Godfather's or Breadeaux, not a local independent pizzeria. What Casey's does is good for what it is: a "chain pizza" decently done. Looking for quick road food when traveling through counties with no stoplights in them, there's much worse than what Casey's provides.

Out here in Pennsylvania, we have a ton of pizzerias/Italian restaurants, so frozen pizza isn't a big deal. But when that craving does arise, I miss Pasquale's frozen pizza, which is based in Humboldt, IA. The local grocery and convenience stores in Iowa carried their products, which were quite good. Don't know if they make it to Wisconsin; if so, they're worth a try.

So you have to be 21 to buy tobacco products now, huh?

I find it slightly ridiculous that an 18 year-old can’t smoke a cigar around a campfire with their buddies, but we trust this same person to make other huge choices like borrowing for school, joining the military, getting tattoos, or voting. I understand wanting to keep tobacco out of high schools, so why not make it 19?

I think the thought is that if the drinking age is 21, why shouldn't smoking etc. be the same?

If you want to debate the drinking age, though, I can easily get on board.

I was talking about this with my 16 year old. He said he thought it should be 25 for tobacco. pot alcohol, etc. He said research has shown that the brain is still developing until age 25.

This all came about because of that vaping stuff. It isn’t about cigarettes. Younger people typically don’t smoke ole cigarettes. Cigars have a lukewarm trendy feel to some though.

I don’t even think it’s about vaping, but rather the illegal THC-laced cartridges that were causing serious health issues for a small number of people. By no means am I claiming vaping is safe, but your average Juul cartridge wasn’t sending kids to the hospital. Just enforce existing laws.

I think there were more motives than that. They are also cracking down on flavors too. So obviously they want to curb the “trendy” high school vibe that was going on.

JUULs and vaping in general have been the #1 source of suspensions at my high school for about 5-6 years. Most people weren’t concerned until the last year. The major myth is that most parents and students thought it was simply flavored water vapor

Not sure how raising the age for anything is going to stop people who were already buying this stuff illegally.

This just seems like a we are doing something without actually doing anything. If anything the US should go the Portugal route and just make everything legal. There was a small jump the first year in use of drugs etc. but the subsequent years after saw a significant drop off on under age drug use. I believe the same would happen in the US but it would never pass as there are far too many "Karens" in the US.

legalization, decriminalization, bans, etc...it's all very complex. Nearly everyone these days has lost a friend, neighbor, co-worker, or loved one due to addiction. In an ideal world, bans would work. In reality, they just create thriving black markets. I don't know the solution for these issues, but it's a lot harder than we often make it seem. Throw in that legalization of substances helps validate their existence, yet society would clearly be better off without them.

I don't think it makes sense either. Yea, in theory if you could ban and it worked that would be great. I'm not about to say they're things are healthy or safe, but is it not a bit odd to be rushing to ban these while normal cigs and alcohol are legal. Millions of people die from these every year. It's also a bit odd to watch the rush to ban vaping out of one side of the mouth while rushing to legalize weed out of the otherside, as MacGruber would say "seems counterintuitive".

Long story, if we've learned nothing with prohibition and the drug war, banning simply won't work. If the people want it they're going to get it.

I'd be all for legalization of pretty much anything but the problem is health care. Hospitals are required to care for the people that don't have insurance/money just like the people that do. There are tons of people that don't pay and therefore the rest of us do. Pushing back the age on/making illegal on some of these vices can help with future medical costs. If people want to smoke/etc in their own home, so what. My problem is having to pay for their choices.

But that's a whole nother subject I guess.

Reminds me of a time a long time ago when I was with my mom. She was trying to merge but traffic was heavy. She exclaimed outloud why wouldn't anyone let her in? I asked her if she had her blinker on so they knew she wanted to get in. She did not.

Ope Im finally making my turn with cross traffic on my ass. #Hangrylol
