The media is why it is a problem though.

If this blows over in a couple weeks you can bank on "Did America overreact?" headlines while they pretend they played no role.

If I didn't know any better, I would have thought it was the first snowstorm of the season in Wisconsin... [sarcasm]there is never any overreaction there...[/sarcasm]

If price gouging were to be legal it would fix this problem. No one is going to be buying toilet paper at $10 a roll. Price gouging allows for the market to self correct but we can't have that!

But people ARE paying crazy prices for stuff. There were bottles of hand sanitizer selling for $80 before Amazon pulled the plug.....

Yes but at some point the price becomes to high and less and less people buy. Once the stock refills you gradually bring down the price to meet demand.

I read an article yesterday about some jerk in Tennessee who drove around Tennessee and Kentucky with a U-Haul and bought 17,000 bottles of hand sanitizer to resell online at an obscene profit. I don’t have a problem with someone selling their existing surplus items for whatever price the market bares, but hoarding hand sanitizer during a public health crisis is just next level idiocy.

I'm really not sure this is true, as I think there is some crazy, silly desperation out there. For all of the people out there who stupidly think this is no big deal, there seem to be a lot of people that also think this is a 'Walking Dead'-type end of days event for some reason.

I read that article. He was disgusting. His excuse was that the price was so high because after amazon took their cut and shipping the cost for him to get it to the buyer justified the high price. He claimed he was doing a public service by taking these supplies from the back woods areas and selling them to people who needed them. Such mental gymnastics to validate taking advantage of despite people in a crisis.

Remember what Yoda said:

"Cubs lead to Cardinals. Cardinals lead to dislike. Dislike leads to hate. Hate leads to constipation."

In other weird randomness, I'm reading a book about shame and it talks about the shame people might have........in public, trying to unobtrusively ease pressure in your bowels and audibly pass gas instead.

I'm sorry if this makes me rude but I had to laugh at the wording and not just saying farting in front of somebody.

I already want to puke whenever I hear the term "social distancing."

Just make sure you are six feet from another person when you yak.

Replacing ice makers isn't all that hard...

... and then it still doesn't work. ***?

We have had problems with the water line freezing. Fortunately after the ice maker so we still get ice, but no water. Our only fix (which was temporary) was to remove everything and let the line thaw out.

I had a refrigerator that did that. Most of my neighbors in the condo development had the same refrigerator and the same problem. Likely an issue with insulation in the door. Two fixes: 1) run some heavy fishing line or similar down the water dispenser tube, and when it freezes pull the fishing line to break up the ice; 2) take a hair dryer to the water dispenser in the door on high for 5 minutes or so. You shouldn't have to remove everything and let it thaw.

I had checked the water line -- we were all good there.

I have noticed that the freezer and the refrigerator have been "warmer" lately. Condenser may be failing. We have been looking for a new unit, but nobody will do an install with COVID-19 issues. We turned down the temperature and it seems to be running ok for now.

I’m picking up groceries from Pick n Save this afternoon that I ordered online earlier in the week. They bring them to your car. This is my first time ordering online. What’s the tipping situation? Leaning toward yes (maybe $2?). I also don’t want to offend someone if this is not customary.

From the FAQ section on Pick N Save's website:

Are tips accepted for Pickup?

While the gesture is appreciated, our associates do not accept tips.
