Random thoughts that are pointless and too dumb to say anywhere else thread: 2020

hawing
Keeping it random, this driver's ed talk is reminding me of the driver's ed instructor in my high school, who between my taking the class and my 5-years-younger sister taking it...was arrested for OWI and was allowed work-release access to his car. This would have been the mid-1980s.

Keeping it along the same randomness and talking work release, could a corrections officer at a local jail qualify for work release? Like literally be let out and change into guard clothing for their shift and then change back into an inmate jumpsuit at the end of the shift and go to the other side of the bars?

No. Once you have a felony or any kind of a record you are not able to work in law enforcement which includes prisons and jail.

There are actually a lot of jobs where you can't be employed if you have any kind of record.

TIL "irregardless" is not a word. Well, technically it's a non-standard word. Irregardless, I won't be using it since it has the same meaning as regardless.

I feel the same way about the letter C. What does it do that K and S don't?

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

Combine with the letter "H" to make "Ch"? ("Che" in the Spanish alphabet.)

No, I agree with Thurston that C is worthless. Cubs. Cardinals. I rest my case.

That sounds like the basis for a Mitch Hedberg bit.

Counterpoint: You prefer Kraig Kounsell and SeeSee Sabathia?

Who knew C has some vowel in it? Wonder if K or S had a one night stand with Y or something.

I'm a 56 year old middle class man and I love ballet. Where do I turn in my mancard?

Ok, this made me laugh - not at you, just the way to admitted it. :laughing I can't say I "like" ballet, but the skill, strength, and stamina required for it is impressive. Actually, a similar admiration for opera. Not that I'm going to sit through a ton of either performances, but I can appreciate the skill required.

I love opera. The Met does a "Summer Series" where they play them in movie theaters on Wednesday, and so you get the subtitles. Act 2 is where you get all the beautiful, sad songs. Ironically, I hate musicals, though.

What's the adage? "The mark of a man is someone who can cry at a good poem but still beat you up for laughing at him for it."

The smoke is really terrible on the west coast this week. It's bad enough to be stuck at home all the time but now I'm stuck inside on top of that. I had a long bike ride planned this weekend that I had to axe. It's going to be a long winter.

When I was at UWO they had occasional operettas that were really great. Full operas go on too long for me though.

I had someone threaten to sue me today and I laughed in their face.

We've had people threaten to sue the moderators of this board. Always fun.
