Not to derail the random thoughts thread, but....

...is it just me, or are people way too in to the idea of making bread lately?

What, you don't have a sourdough starter yet? /s

My one shamefull incidence of hoarding during the pandemic was bread related. I was picking up groceries, my wife asked for yeast to make bread of some sort. Of course, I couldn't find it so I asked an employee and he said he didn't think they had any left. Turns out they had 6 (whatever the unit measure of yeast is) and he said I should get them while I could. I succumbed to the hysteria and bought all 6. This was 6 weeks ago and we haven't used one :tired

Long sleeve Ts are fascinating. I have a couple that fit everywhere perfectly. Better than 90% of any other type of shirt I own. Then there are others where the cuffs go past my fingertips with room to spare. Yet they barely go past my waist. Some mad scientist at work here.

Because the bacteria has time to break down the gluten, a lot of celiac people can eat sourdough. Also sourdough bread doesn't spike the blood sugar as much as regular bread does.

Sourdough ties to urban homesteading, which ties to a lot of the hipster stuff that has taken off lately. Not saying that to knock it, as I like a lot of that sorta stuff. Used to use a lot of it for programs at my park, too. I've done classes on sourdough, shrub, kraut and kimchi. Fermenting meats proved too expensive. But making my own cocktail bitters may be next.

This Monday will be the first day I will not have to work since mid March. Which should give me enough time to clean the house, mow the lawn, plant the garden, fix the broken lattice on the trellis, brush the dog and paint the porch.

This twitter outage is kind of funny. All the blue checks are simply re-tweeting their favorite tweets from years past.

Which is the worst kind of human being?

1) Doesn't say "thank you" when someone opens a door for them

2) Leaves a shopping cart in a parking space instead of returning it to the designated cart area

3) Doesn't give you a wave or acknowledgment when you let them in on the highway or let them go first at a stop sign

Must be a midwest thing for #3 but #2 is by far the worst.

Doubtful, Midwestern people are known for being friendly and waiving/nodding back in those situations.

#2 is the worst for me...

I’m not waving if you let me go first at a stop sign. If you stopped first GO.

If you don’t put the shopping cart back I am going to assume you are from the Chicago suburbs and just feel bad for you.

I will go #1. There is just no explainable excuse to not at least give a head nod of acknowledgement.

A weird trend I’ve noticed in the last 2 years in AZ is cars that stop AT LEAST one full car length behind the line at a stoplight. Sometimes I wish I had a smaller car and I could pull in front of them (and proceed to wait at the light) just to see their reaction

How about when you say Thank You and the other person says Yeah or Uh huh.

I read an article about that a year or so ago. It's totally a generational thing. Millennials and younger don't use the words "you're welcome" but say other things that mean the same thing. Myself, I very rarely use you're welcome. When I worked retail and customers would say thank you to me I would almost always say no problem or something similar. I have no idea why. It wasn't a conscious decision, it's just what I said.

This and the not pulling out into the intersection when there is no red left turn arrow. Why stop at the crosswalk you are impeding traffic. Van Buren and 7th st is always backed up because of this especially between the hours of 3PM-6pm. It is so annoying being stuck in the left turn lane because someone didn't pull out to the middle of the intersection.

Ugg I really hate Arizona and California drivers. Illinois drivers are saints compared to them.

MN drivers in the cities don't understand yellow left turn arrows or no arrow. They park behind the crosswalk and sit there. I've even honked at one since no one was coming and they still sat there.

Granted, MN hardly ever turns on the yellow arrow too. I have one intersection where I turn left A LOT. It is setup that if no car is in that lane when the regular light turns green, you get a yellow arrow. If you are pulling into that the turning lane as the arrow goes from green, you NEVER get a yellow blinking arrow. Drives me nuts because I'm often sitting there with no one coming.
