That's obviously what they were afraid of, but 21 seconds is really plenty of time to run a designed play for the end zone and even if you get tackled, if everyone knows the plan, you should be able to spike. Brees has to get rid of it quickly but you could have devised all this with the TO.

That they didn't use it at all makes it look pretty stupid.

I continue to be in awe of how many NFL coaches absolutely do not know how to manage the clock at the end of the game/half.

I think it's a control thing, it's too much for them to be on top of everything but they don't want to cede that call to some clock management specialist. I thought they should have called the timeout on the play before the attempted spike. Still enough time to throw over the middle and run up and spike it if needed.

Going to get criticized a lot more if Brees doesn’t touch the ball in OT.

Nice.....now throw a pick, Cousins.

Playing for overtime with a HOF QB and over 21 seconds should be criticized regardless, IMO.

Every time I wonder "what would it have been like if Green Bay hired Payton and not MM?" I remember, there's probably a reason he's only won one Super Bowl with a Hall of Famer of his own, and it isn't all bad officiating. That being said, Saints fans are going to have more officiating controversy to get worked up about after this one.

That was a good no call. Not even as bad as the call against UW in the Rose Bowl.

Wow is the PI review system a joke. They may not over turn it, but why on earth is it not reviewed???? The entire point of it was game altering plays... um ..... game winning walk off touchdown? Yea, prolly should take a look...

I mean they should still review it because that's the whole point but no way that was getting reversed.

Probably the same reason they didn't in the Sunday Night game. Riveron will say it was reviewed and there was nothing.
