Classic NFL unable to get out of its own way. They totally overhaul the system to allow replay review of PI. Yet, an obvious PI penalty occurs in the end zone of Game 256 with 15 seconds left and the division and HFA in the air — and, guess what, they don’t even initiate a booth review.

Add to that the game was on national tv, and their booth ref expert was calling for them to buzz in for a review.

Just scrap the replay review rule altogether if it's going to be that subjective of when it's actually reviewed..in fact go to a modified college rule for PI, allow contact all over the field until the ball is thrown, but then keep PI as a spot foul to award more than 15 penalty yards on deeper passes.

Oh well - of all the nfc playoff teams the one I'd want to face the least regardless of location was San Fran due to the fact they have a dynamic running game/play action game and a game changer at tight end...those strengths are amplified given GB's biggest defensive weakness is MLBers. So at least this outcome puts a potential game with them out to the nfccg.

Wouldn't mind seeing seattle play them again in san fran for the divisional round if they beat philly, too.

I think people always get way too worked up about the seeding. None of these teams are so good that they can cakewalk through anybody. SF is 3-2 in its last 5, winning by 2, 3 and 5. They lost to Atlanta in there, and yes the rest was a brutal schedule.

They're my favorite, but there is just not that one dominant team. Whoever SF plays in the 2nd round is going to be a good team. Do you think they're that excited to potentially play SEA a third time, a pretty likely outcome?

I'm just glad the Packers are back in this. Never thought in preseason they'd have a bye. Pretty amazing.

That's literally the exact kind of play that caused PI to be reviewable in the first place

Packers the Sunday slot at 5:40... yuck

I think that's good from a competitive standpoint. Probably will be colder later.

Early forecast for Sunday, the 12th is a high of 25 and a low of 21 with snowfall around an inch

Lol, I was think more... recreational.

Hangover Monday’s aren’t much fun.

Brees, Kamara, and Jared Cook say hello. Add maybe the best WR in the NFL to that as well.

I felt like the Saints were the worst match up for GB. Brees gets the ball out fast enough to neutralize the Packers rush. I think their skill players are better than SF. Playing at home may neutralize those weapons a little.

It's the playing at home that makes the saints less formidable than the 49ers, imo...the saints in january at lambeau dont bring the caliber of physical play that the 49ers could do in those conditions. It's the olines, too. And Kittle is just that dynamic a TE

At some point the packers need to beat at least one of the saints or 49ers - I'd rather face the saints at home than any other scenario with those teams, so it's about as good as it gets. Unless the Vikings upset NO and gift the pack a divisional round game against a battered eagles or seahawks team.

I think we'll be home underdogs, and rightfully so. I won't pretend to know how the cold will affect Brees, but the Saints have a ton of different skill players they can throw at you. They have the best WR in football and a top TE. They can get Taysom Hill or Kamara out in space and hurt you. They can pound it with Murray. There's a lot of weather contingencies they can plan for. They have a very versatile offense and I don't expect their attack to be rendered useless by bad weather. It will take a strong effort from the defense like what we saw in Minnesota to win.

As nice as it would have been to see Seattle pull it off, we'd be in a whole lot worse spot if we hadn't pulled our comeback today. We'd have to beat Minnesota again next week just to get to where we already are and then go to New Orleans to face the Saints in their place. Not desirable.

It is tough to say for sure, the closest thing the Saints have had to a bad weather game due to temps was a wild card playoff game against the eagles several years ago that they eeked out, and that game time temp was in the upper 20s. They haven't played anything close to a cold weather game during the regular season in forever. The fact they dont live in it like a northern dome team (vikes) gives them a bigger disadvantage than most when even trying to prepare for an outdoor game in the teens or single digits.

What makes their offense great is its versatility...but if conditions limit what they can do within a game, it's less versatile and they have to lean on some things they do that arent their strengths.
