Green Bay can clinch home-field advantage throughout the playoffs with SF loss or tie.

The bye is so big for the Packers. For obvious reasons but if Seattle can win it forces these two to play another week and get beat up. Then there is another chance the Packers get Minnesota at home in the 2nd round, which is no cakewalk, but you can see how much of a change there is getting that bye vs. not.

I’m sure it has to do with strength of victory tiebreaker or something weird, but I was surprised the 49ers clinch the division with a tie. I would have figured that 1-0-1 would favor the team that actually won a head-to-head game instead of going to other tiebreakers.

Can someone do the homework and list the seedings for both a Seahawks and Niners win?

Niner win:

1) Niners

2) Packers

3) Saints

4) Eagles

5) Seahawks

6) Vikings

Seahawk win:

1) Packers

2) Saints

3) Seahawks

4) Eagles

5) 49ers

6) Vikings

Yeah, that doesn't make sense. Don't division tiebreakers take precedence over conference tiebreakers? A tie should give Seattle the division by virtue of better head to head record.

Pretty simple, the 49ers would be 12-3-1 and Seattle would be 11-4-1

Thanks, but that's assuming the Eagles win the East division. That's still not a slam dunk to me.

Oh ok. I forgot the Seahawks lost last week.

Well it's the exact same if the Cowboys win it just substitute Cowboys for Eagles.

Well that makes perfect sense. I probably should have done some simple “homework” and looked at their records. Whoops.

Yeah I realized the NFCE winner is locked in at 4. My dream scenario is that both the three and four seed win next week and we get the Eagles back at Lambeau for some revenge or the Cowboys simply because it's the Cowboys and it would make me so happy to end their season.

I really think that's more of a nightmare than a dream. I really would not like the Eagles. The Packers are just not that good and another cold weather team that can score a lot of points is not a great match up to me.

My dream would be the Vikings knocking off the 3 and coming to GB 2nd round. I'd also rather see the Saints in the 2nd round if the game's at home, over the Eagles. Let me see Brees in 10 degrees. I have some faith in our defense.

Let me clarify that I'm not saying the Eagles are better than the Saints. But the Saints are a dome team, and if we're playing the Eagles that means they just beat SEA/SF and I'm not sure I want that wild card magic coming into town, especially a team that already beat us once.

I don't think the Packers are going to the Super Bowl, so I'd rather just get the Saints in the most favorable situation you can and see what happens.

If we play like we did today there will not be an easy out for us. It's going to be a lot more about being able to elevate our play to an acceptable level than who our opponent is. If there is an opponent that presents an opportunity to win ugly against it is probably the Eagles or Vikings, but it's not a sure thing.

Nobody will be an easy out for the Packers. This is who they are and what they've done an entire season. Playing Philly means they just beat an NFC West team. If they do that, I would honestly expect the Packers to lose that game, and I would guess that would be an extremely popular choice among fans. I'm not sure the Packers would be favored to beat anyone in the 2nd round other than Minnesota. Not even sure about that, since they'd also be coming off a big win and have to lose to us 3x. But they have the Cousins factor going for (against) them.

The 7-9 Seahawks beat the defending champion Saints at home in 2010. The 7-8-1 Panthers beat the Cardinals at home in the wild card in 2014. Both lost the following week on the road. As mediocre as this team has played this year, I would still expect a win. Unfortunately that's probably as far as we will get in that scenario.

Neither one of those teams was as good as whoever loses the game tonight. I recall the SEA over NOLA game being a pretty popular upset pick because it was in Seattle and they were an up and coming team. Nobody really bought into that Cardinals team either. Their offense was absolutely awful and they lost 4 of 6 to end the year.

If the Eagles did beat SF next week, I'm guessing more people would pick them than the Packers. But I think it's moot because they'll get crushed by anyone they get first round.

I'm not sure what I want. If Seattle wins, we get the one seed, but are most likely getting san fran in our first game, though at least in green bay. And I would be confident with Seattle or NO at home.

If san fran wins, would would get probably the saints at home, which I would be confident about, but then would likely have to go to San Fran, baring a Seattle upset, which I would bit be confident about,

Remember what Yoda said:

"Cubs lead to Cardinals. Cardinals lead to dislike. Dislike leads to hate. Hate leads to constipation."

We want the 1 for sure. HFA as long as possible. We won't necessarily get the 49ers, either them losing in Philly or the Vikings winning in Seattle would prevent that from happening.

It really doesn't matter. There is not a lot of weakness in the field and the Packers aren't super powerful. They'll have to beat someone good no matter what.

I don't think 1 or 2 matters much at all either. It's just fun to discuss the matchups. If the Packers win a game I couldn't complain about any outcome after that. You already really can't, but if they lose right away it really solidifies all the trepidation people have had all year.

Vikes match up well personnel wise with the saints defensively- if they have cook anywhere near 100percent I think they give the saints all they can handle.

A 1 seed means they either get the Vikings or the winner of SF-philly, no saints or seahawks until the title game, and all at lambeau.

Go seachickens!
