Game 16: Packers @ Lions - Sunday, December 29, Noon

It sounds like the extra day off was something the players asked for via their leadership committee. If you’re a manager and your direct reports ask for something that’s important to them, you’ve gotta do what you can to accommodate (provided they’ve been performing well). Professional relationships are built on trust.

And the players need to earn their side of the trust coin too and understand the importance of this game and know that if they're going to ask for that extra day off, it had better not affect their preparation for this game. And they're not keeping their end of that bargain so far.

The holiday is a valid point but the fact it was a short week makes giving the team an extra day off all the more inexcusable. I wonder how many other teams were given Christmas off.

You can beat the "shouldn't have been off on Christmas" thing to death if you want, but missing one day of practice isn't an excuse for this showing so far. They've just come out flat. Looks a lot like the San Diego game. Gotta pick things up quick, or they'll be in trouble.

Exactly. It’s on the players to show up.

Exactly. I’d be shocked if the coaching staff didn’t work on Christmas.

How many other teams asked for Christmas off? And how many of those requests were turned down? I'd really like to know. It's up to the head coach to do what's best for the team and so far it looks like a rookie mistake MLF made. Most everyone celebrates on Christmas Eve night anyway. Players could've easily adjusted accordingly.

Dude, just stop. This is on the players, not the coaching staff.

I think you are underestimating how much of an impact one less day of practice makes.

It's inexplicable to me that a team who has made a living winning ugly all season long, who needs a win to get a bye, who already got a scare from this team at home, would go into this game not respecting this team.

If that's the case, they don't deserve the bye whatsoever. They deserve to have to get ready for another game next week.

I thought that call on Alexander was BS. You’ve gotta finish your tackles or pro WRs will get away from you. The whistle was not blown until Amendola was in the air and Jaire did not put any weight on the receiver on the way down. If the league wants to avoid that, blow the whistle when his forward progress is stopped.

The 12-3 Packers may lose to the Lions with a bye on the line and it's because they got Christmas off? Lol.

They didn't respect this team. They better start.

They didn't respect them by skipping a practice. It's too late to start respecting them now. Once again, skipping practice shouldn't be underestimated.

OK, I'm done now. Hopefully I'm wrong and they'll wake up in time.
