Game 14: Bears @ Packers - Sunday, December 15th, Noon

That got closer than it should have.

Robinson on the fumble just stood there watching the Packers recover. I know there's some rule to offense cant fumble recover forward in to endzone. But does that rule apply after the defense takes near full control?

The booth attempt to award Chi a free 1st down was a joke. The WRs didnt even try selling like a PI had happened. It was a good play, no ref threw the flag. And yet they had to look at it? Would the booth have looked at it had a flag been thrown for the benefit that there wasnt a PI like the refs in that instance are calling?

This team is not going places in the playoffs. Matt Lafluer is clearly a rookie coach and while some drives his playcalls are brilliant. There are numerous mistakes at times. As said by one before, stepping on the throats. I think he is losing at. It reverts to the almost I have Rodgers well make at least 1 1st down just because of that. Next thing you know 3 and outs in back to back drives.

Think about Rodgers and targets in the 4th qtr. Allison had a drive he had 2catches in. I dont think he had a target after that.

Wheres the FB or other TE sorta trick playcall? I seen Sternberger run blocking that final drive. Im waiting for the Playaction where he fakes a block and roams free since when has that happened? Surprise on defense. Lazard not getting targets.

Positive is they came out in 2nd half great adjustments great approach. But then the rookie took over.

I think the play was essentially over once it was fumbled forward even if they didn't call it on the field. Not sure if you mean what if Tramon had not recovered it but once he had possession it was over.

I don't disagree at all, on top of everything else it's like MM never left. I don't think we stand much of a chance against a good QB but I will always have hope and we have a shot at a bye, it could be a lot worse.

Absolutely. That's all we can do. I don't have much hope that we can go all the way but we do have more hope than 20 or so teams in the league. The last two seasons it felt like every close game went against us and this year has been the opposite. A bye would be fantastic mainly because that's one less game they can lose. It's hard for me to see them winning in Minnesota next week though. But fortunately they now only need 1 more win to win the division.

Yeah I think there's some rule about recovering your own fumble under 2 minutes...or something like that.

Yeah, this team is going deep into the playoffs.

Yep, they sure are.

The way schedules and seeding play out, there's actually a decent chance the packers would only need to beat one of the three teams who are apparently unbeatable juggernauts (saints, 49ers, seahawks) to get to the super bowl. All 3 of them have had some key injuries in the last few weeks that knock them down a peg, too - particularly on defense.

If they had to play and beat all 3? Sure I dont like their chances. Needing to beat only one of them makes life much easier. Getting that 2 or 1 seed is critical for this packers team.

Exhibit A: New England Patriots pretty much every time they end up in the Super Bowl. GET. A. BYE. The division is all but assured now, but if they want the bye, this team has to come up with the game of the season next week in Minnesota. Can’t overstate how important this game is going to be.

Realistically, the 1 seed ain't happening.

2 seed is theirs if they win their last two. But my personal opinion is that they will win the division but fall in Minnesota next week and end up as the 3 seed. That puts them likely up against Minnesota again in the Wild Card round so while they *could* get to the NFCCG if things break right, they could probably just as easily not be getting out of the WC round.

To me, NFL games are won in the margins a lot of times. By that I mean little things that can make or break you: pre-snap penalties, blown coverages, incorrect routes, missed block assignments, blown timeouts, return game, clock management etc.

In many cases this stuff is fixable via coaching but it's been a year long issue for GB which is what is so frustrating to me. Looks like they at least got the return game figured out which is good but the rest of it continues and in my mind is preventing them from really being a great team.

Let's not forget the important stuff, we beat the Bears AND snuffed out what is left of their playoff hopes. It would be more satisfying for me if it was the Vikings but it still feels good. :)

Patience.... that comes next week. Back-to-back playoff killers? :)

Wonder what the line will be for the Vikes game?

I'm guessing the Vikes will be 5 point favorites or so.

I’ll guess Vikings by 3 ... it will be very close (edge to the home team).

With the rams getting smoked by Dallas, that's not gonna happen next week and I'm not sure who wins the tie breaker if they end up tied if bikes lose out and rams win out.

Remember what Yoda said:

If Rams win out and Vikings lose out, the Rams get the 6 seed based on better winning percentage in conference games.

#1 seed in play for Green Bay.

Do we have tiebreaker over Seahawks? 9ers still have to play vs Rams and @ Seahawks. If the Packers win out, there's a good chance they'll be a game ahead of the 9ers but tied with Seattle.

No we would not.

Gotta aim for a rams win next wkend then a niners win against the Seahawks in the last week.. plus packers to win out. That's the path to a #1 seed. Otherwise win out and get the #2 seed.

I dont think there are any other tiebreakers that would bring the pack over a niners or Seahawks team if they have the same number of losses.

Imo, they need the bye if there's any chance of some matchups going their way and winning the NFC. This is not a run the table wild card team. I'm not sure they're 30 points worse than SF and weird stuff happens. But getting that bye is really a necessity to me. If they got a bye and won a game, to me that's an incredible year for this team.
