Mazara has been a significant disappointment IMO. Don't blame the White Sox for making this move, probably are hoping that a change of scenery does Mazara good, but so far he's been a very mediocre player.

Weird stat history - he's pretty much been the exact same offensive player for four seasons. He was extremely young when they brought him up but he's never improved (slight uptick in slugging last year). He's only going into his age 25 season so he could easily break out very soon.

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

White Sox are making some nice moves this offseason. Bringing in Mazara, signing Grandal, and retaining Abreu. Their offense just got a whole lot better. If they bring in a rotation arm like Keuchel, Bumgarner, or Ryu, they are going to be a very interesting team to watch.

I could see them having a 20 game swing from 72 to 92 wins next season. Having Giolito and Cease all year, adding a big name rotation arm, and bringing in a back end starter to round it out, they could make a real run at the postseason in 2020.
