Marlins to move in fences, install artificial turf

Miller Park has had few issues keeping the grass nice over the last 20 years, no reason to switch (nor would i want them to)

I mean, maybe they can just put turf in the 3 foot by 3 foot box Braun always stands in. That's the only really bad spot on the field.

Why would Miller Park go to artificial turf? They made it a focal point in making the stadium in a way that gives them real grass (which looks great with some assistance).

Why not?

The park is arguably due for a mid-life upgrade...

Fake turf is an upgrade?

They just overhauled the food areas, a new scoreboard is on the docket, and new seats are in the near future.

Thank you, maybe it's changed since I was last on it. The fake stuff is hard on the body, Braun and Cain will be using those Mart Carts by July.

The field turf now looks and plays pretty similar to real grass. We're not talking about the old carpet style astro turf over cement. I get the concept of wanting to keep actual grass, but arguments that it won't look as good, or that it's harder on the body just aren't true anymore. It would make the outfield look better honestly. The last game I went to this past year you could see the square outlines of the patched in areas. Personally couldn't care less if they're there, but they are noticeable.

but then you couldn't have the cool lines in the grass from the mower... (/blue)

The new turf has the mower lines as well. I feel like it is inevitable that all retractable roof stadiums including Miller Park switch over. The benefits for hosting non-baseball events are too good to pass up.

Teams have to be really careful with the synthetic turfs as well. If a stage tears it, it’s not as simple a fix as real grass.
