Extending Yelich?

I'm wondering if they aren't looking to extend Yelich by clearing out some salary. Braun will be coming off the books pretty soon...

Yelich is under club control through 2022. It's highly unlikely that any moves they are making now have anything to do with a Yelich extension. Far more likely that they just didn't think Grandal and Moose were worth the salaries they received in free agency.

No, because that doesn't make any sense at all. Yelich is signed for another 3 years. That means his deal would not start until year 4 of a Grandal or Moose contract and all the other moves those guys wouldn't have even been around when a Yelich extension would kick in. You can't really slightly increase his current extension to lessen the new extension money per year either. Yelich is owed 12.5/14/15. That is cheap for his production, but definitely not cheap on our payroll regardless.
