Jay Jackson signs NPB contract

After a shaky start I quite liked what I saw from him so I had hoped he'd be back. However I suspect that the money in Japan (Where he already has made a name for himself with three very good seasons) would be better than the likely league minimum (Or less, if he was optioned) he was likely to get in MLB. Good for him if so.

I liked Jay Jackson and he served a nice role on the Brewers last year.

I believe Matt Pauley or JR Radcliffe interviewed him for their podcast during the season and I believe he got married to a Japanese woman while playing in the NPB and they have a son. It's possible that playing in Japan was better for him personally than playing in the MLB.

A quick google search shows he made ~$2mm in 2018 in the NPB. If he got a similar deal this time around that's probably more than he would have earned in MLB in 2020.
