B1G Championship Game - Wisconsin vs Ohio St. - Saturday, Dec 7th, 7PM

I could see LSU jumping to #1. I’d lean towards not, but could happen.

I’d like the Rose Bowl, but I fully expect the Rose Bowl to prefer Penn State. It’s really a tossup though.

LSU already did jump to #1. No announcement on the Rose Bowl yet.

Should be the top 8 teams.... play the first round as bowl games. Reseed after the bowls. Top two teams have home games, and the winners go to the nTional championship game.

Also, Clemson has been relevant just the past few years. Utah is a possible top 4. The same teams aren't always in contention. Florida, Florida State, Miami, and USC were dominant for years. Now, they are fairly unimpressive.

The semi final games are already blowouts. What do you think would happen expanding to eight?

That is the problem. Too many would end up blowouts where it would probably make the opening round a slight joke.

Agreed, there is not a great argument for expanding to 8 teams right now. Even versus 4 is probably not going to be a very competitive game. There's just too much separation after the top 3 to justify an 8 team playoff right now.

My argument for 8 teams is that all conference champions get an automatic bid. Then for the heck of it the top non power 5 gets an automatic bid. Then you have two slots for scenarios like when penn st beat us but ohio st got the nod.
Remember what Yoda said:

Ohio State needed to run a fake punt against WI to get back in the game. Think about that.

That drive with the fake punt ended in a fumble recovered by UW.

From ESPN....

"Wisconsin is the only school to produce two 6,000-yard rushers. The other is Ron Dayne, the career rushing leader, with 7,125 yards."
