That would be my guess. I would be mildly surprised if we don't get the Rose Bowl, but shocked if we don't get at least get a NY6 bowl.

Silver lining...the badger performance tonight may wind up forcing OSU to play Clemson in the round of 4 instead of Oklahoma.

That is going to be an awesome game - I dont care how bad Clemson's conference is, much the same was said last year and they blew the doors off Bama.

And it's not scheme that separates the badgers and osu... or for that matter the entire big ten and OSU - they are just better either talent wise or experience wise than everyone else across the board. Depth is ridiculous, and 5 star recruits fight to get recruited by them. The badgers threw the kitchen sink at ohio state in the first half and if it weren't for fields fumbling inside the 5, fields missing a wide open td pass on their 2nd or 3rd drive, and taylor springing a big run on what was probably intended to be a half-ending run, the badgers would have trailed after after 2 quarters when they were playing as well as they could against the buckeyes.

Do people really think that OSU, Clemson, Alabama, etc, are always among the top teams in the country because they have the best schemes?

No, it's because they are able to recruit the best and most talented big school players from all over the country.

It was noted earlier this week on ESPN radio (& to a point on the TV shows) that Meatchicken has been out recruiting (by # of 5 stars & 4 stars since 2016) vs Ohio State. Bigger difference is the coaching & development of players while in school. In that area OSU is miles ahead of Meatchicken.

I am NOT comparing that to WI but it does beg the question - regardless of the rankings, how well do the players develop (or not) while at WI???

I don't understand why people just love college football and think it's just so great and so pure. It's the same 5 schools with access to all the top talent while everyone else fights over the scraps, so the same 5 teams are the only ones really competing for a title every year while everyone else just gets to feel good about competing for bowls. Good times.

I think you either have to accept that and enjoy it for what it is, or don't. It's like, why would someone be a fan of New Mexico or San Diego St. or Western Kentucky? They will never have a shot, so you either accept that what you're playing for is a conference title and a chance at a business name/fruit bowl, or just not get into it.

There are colleges looking up at us and wishing they could be as good as us. Since Barry took over, we have had a LONG string of success. Yes, it stinks that we rarely have gotten to sniff being ranked top 5, but I do remember the pre-Alvarez teams. I'm ok with this.

All it takes is the word...Veer.... to appreciate where they are at now.

UW had to play perfectly, win the TO differential, and they had a shot. They did it in the first half but miss a field goal, drop a punt, trip or drop a pass and nope.

I hate OSU.

I do too, but I also cant help but just respect how good their team is this year. Oh well, on to hopefully the rose bowl

Remember what Yoda said:

Everyone has Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl except ESPN, which had Wis in the Taxslayer Bowl week ago so they're a joke. The Fox guys made a good point that Wis played OSU closer both times; PS was down 21-0 and there was never a time they looked like they might win.

I wouldn't mind if Division I were divided into a 1A and 1B. Let the San Diego States of the Division compete against each other.

Also, why are there conferences in the first place? Make RPI even more important in the rankings and let teams schedule whoever they want to play. Three non-conference games against nobodies plus three more games against the Conference's worst teams are making college football somewhat boring.

There are all already two tiers in DI football ... are you proposing three? I’m not really opposed, but I’d hate to see it wind up like high school football where they crown 6 or 7 champions. For all but a handful of college programs, the goal should be to win your league. Otherwise, you’re setting yourself up for perpetual disappointment. Conferences were originally devised to ease scheduling concerns. They also help minimize travel expenses (especially for smaller schools).

Should be the top 8 teams.... play the first round as bowl games. Reseed after the bowls. Top two teams have home games, and the winners go to the nTional championship game.

Also, Clemson has been relevant just the past few years. Utah is a possible top 4. The same teams aren't always in contention. Florida, Florida State, Miami, and USC were dominant for years. Now, they are fairly unimpressive.

Maybe if the Top 8 teams would actually look worthy:

#4 got destroyed by #2

#5 dismantled by #13

#6 barely beat out #7, we will see how #6 does against #1

#8 could only play half a game against #1

We just don’t get those huge snubs to really get that conversation going.

Ohio State needed to run a fake punt against WI to get back in the game. Think about that.

They also needed several obvious non-calls on penalties, a couple of one-handed catches, a couple of broken plays, and a dropped punt to beat WI.

The officiating last night was an embarrassment for the B1G. But don't fool yourself into thinking that is was all sided calls/ breaks.

The drive for the missed FG was aided by 2 unsportsmanlike calls. They never showed what caused the flag on the kickoff so WI started at the 40. Neither side was flagged for holding during the 1st half. I know I saw at least 3 on OSU and another 5 on WI...

Yeah, you're absolutely right. It just feels like there is a separate division above division 1 with a few elites. I agree with whoever said there should be a 1A and 1B championships. You can't have the San Diego States of the world competing against the Ohio States and Clemsons and expect to really get anything out of that.

Yes. Somehow in the first half they had 3 catches that may have been better than any catch a Packer has made this season. They exposed the missing LBs, which maybe the talent Leonard was left on the field caused him to call the soft zone vs the game plan he had in the 1st half. Taylor missing the 1st series of the 2nd half sequence. Cruickshank running out the kick and resulting starting field position at 15. The 3rd quarter was just a whole bowl of terrible events. 21-17 Badgers the other 3 quarters with a FG position had they not needed 2 TDs otherwise.

Listening to ESPN radio and they are all about LSU being the #1 seed jumping OSU. I don't get that. Dumb SEC Bias. But whatever it'll be settled on the field. Such a joke if ESPN's prediction for WI to face Memphis in the Cotton Bowl happens. So Penn St can play Oregon, Minnesota play Auburn, Michigan play Alabama, Iowa gets USC. Stick us with a non power 5 match-up. I hope they don't stick WI with a scrub matchup.

There was a growing feeling among many reporters at halftime yesterday that if we continued our domination from the first half and ended up beating OSU by double digits, we would have jumped Oklahoma for the 4th spot. Unfortunately we will never know.
