Why did the "Boomer/college affordability" discussion get locked?

It veered off the OP question and into a student loan discussion, the word "government" was used which is automatic lockage. I agree though, it seemed pretty benign and remained civil.

Yeah, seemed fine to me. No arguing, no name calling...

 

Would be nice if a thread gets locked, there would be an explanation by the mod who locked it, as the last post in the thread.

When the discussion veered into subsidizing student loans and then political campaign strategy around what to do about education it got way off topic and political. Yes it was a good conversation but as we've mentioned before it doesn't have to be argumentative to be locked. I suppose I could have just deleted the posts but sometimes we see stuff and don't have time to make a bunch of edits or add a comment.

 

I should have gone back and added a post after the fact. My mistake. I just forgot about it. If I have time over lunch I'll see about re-opening it.

Thanks. I was just looking for an explanation. I went to put in a response about my personal experience as a student and now as a teacher, and I was surprised to see it was locked.

I thought it might have been when long-term planning was compared to a diet. Epic fail for me...

They are similar though? The people you usually see out for runs aren't people that actually "need" to be running. The people who tend to be stingiest with money can afford not to be. People stick to the habits that got them where they are most of the time. I didn't make that analogy, but I thought it was pertinent. Let's veer the "why was the other thread locked" thread off course!
