Huge "right the ship" game for the Packers. Panthers are a solid team, and Christian McCaffrey is a beast. If I'm the Packers, I load up the box, make Savage, Amos or Campbell (if activated) a spy on McCaffrey, and make Allen beat them. They also need to find a way to incorporate Burks into the defense. They are just getting embarrassed due to the lack of speed on the second level.

This one concerns me. Any win here is a good win. McCaffrey is a nightmare for anyone, but especially against a team as bad up the middle as the Packers are. This is also a good passing defense. It seems to be a really bad matchup for the Packers on paper. If this was on the road I'd take Carolina running away...I think I'm still taking them in a close game.

Pissed off Aaron Rodgers is typically sublime Aaron Rodgers, and I think after last week's rotten egg, he's pretty pissed. I think the offense has a big day because of that. Slowing down McCaffrey is obviously the key to the defensive game plan. I predict something like a 35-28 game.

I think I'm with Joey on this one. I don't think Carolina will be able to slow the offense down much. Our corners also SHOULD be able to win in man coverage most of the time against their WR, so theoretically we man up everywhere else and gameplan the rest of the defense toward slowing down CMC as much as we can. Sounds great in theory, but CMC is ridiculous so easier said than done. I would like to think we can win a high scoring game though. Rodgers at home vs this rookie QB on the road in cold weather...

If Pettine lets McCaffrey run wild on us, they should really think about making a change in that department, maybe even before the season is up. At some point, he has to be held responsible. He needs to come up with a plan to take away their best player. That is one thing that good D coordinators do.

With an elite talent like CMC, you don't take him away. You try your best to limit him, but that's easier said than done. Hard to argue Belicheat isn't one of the best coaches ever, and they just got their clock cleaned by Lamar Jackson and the Ravens. CMC is similarly an elite talent...it's not going to be easy to even limit this guy.

Tampa Bay sure figured it out, but I don't think that's a realistic goal. Oddly Tampa has held him under 40 yards rushing and under 60 total yards of offense in both match ups this year. He's torched every other defense in the league.

I am not 100% but I think Tampa has a top 3 run defense in the league.

Big game today. Went into last week 7-1, but many questioned the sincerity of that. They then proceeded to lose their home game in California in pretty embarrassing fashion to a team simply not that good. Panthers are a solid team and after this we get a great 49ers team.

Lose today and they could easily be 7-4 after next week confirming what many thought.

Considering the majority of the pessimists were predicting 6-7 wins for the season, still good.

Wow that sucks. Looked like a good catch to me.

Ain’t getting overturned though. Smart not to challenge it.

I think it touched the ground, but though he controlled it before that, didn’t move when it tapped the ground, and then only moved after he started to bring it back up to spin around to his body.

Is what it is though.

Nothing will change with this franchise until they find a defensive coordinator and GM that know what they’re doing on that side of the ball. It feels like a decade of “missed assignments”.

Investing so much draft capital on that side of the ball and receiving so little production in return explains >75% of their problems. With a few of those picks spent on offense, maybe the offense never stagnates like they have since 2015?

Investing in it was the right move. Rodgers needs a run game and defense as he ages. But I’m not sure we have the right leadership in place to actually make it happen.

It’s easy for me to make those comments in hindsight. I agree, it seemed to make sense to address the defensive shortcomings through the draft ... their hit rate has just been disappointing. Most fans were even perplexed by the Datone Jones and Damarius Randall picks (I’d add Rashan Gary to that list, but am trying to give him the benefit of the doubt).
