Interesting....better then a non tender and shows thew Brewers are going to try and use that money to upgrade either at Pitcher or another position.

It wouldn't have been a non-tender. Anderson has a team option. The team simply would have not picked it up.

Yes, this tells me they are going to be active in upgrading the starting pitching. It will be interesting to see what they get back for Anderson, as he's been very good for the most part in his time as a Brewer, and that option is not overly expensive.

[sarcasm]We better be getting Vlad Jr.[/sarcasm]

Heck, I'd take Vlad Sr.

Can I interest you in a Chad Spanberger?

#BlueJays are sending 1B Chad Spanberger, who was acquired in the Seunghwan Oh trade, to the Brewers. Spanberger, 24, struggled in Double-A in 2019.

this is great!!!! better than DFA and getting nothing, and opens up a spot in the rotation for when we sign Cole

There was no chance they weren't going to pick up that option and simply dump him for nothing. If no one wanted him they would have picked it up and either put him in the rotation or had him as insurance. Not a particularly surprising move as the Brewers have never seemed to be big Anderson fans in the last few years and I somewhat expected a move like this to go with someone they liked more on the cheap. To me this is simply a sign they are going to invest his salary in a different middling guy...probably Lyles if I had to guess.

A very underrated guy. Almost propelled us to the postseason in 2017, helped in 2018, and without him last year we may not even make the postseason. When the pitching imploded Anderson was in the wings to provide the stability it dearly needed.

Dude crushed it in the Sally league. Hasn't done anything since then.

Big (6'3", 235), strong lefty power hitter who was a 6th round pick of the Rockies in 2017. Terrific numbers in A Ball in 2018. Literally turned 24 on Friday.

Nice prospect to have at a spot where the Brewers are lacking much in the minors. I would expect him to start at Biloxi next year ... perhaps San Antonio if he is great in Spring Training.

Think I prefer Vlad Sr.

So basically a guy that crushed A ball as a 22 year old (pretty old for that league as a college sign). Not too impressive of a track record in all honesty. Not a great prospect...but at least you can dream a little bit that he may figure it out.

What were you expecting for Chase Anderson? Spanberger is at least an actual honest-to-goodness prospect.

Not really as he wasn't even in the Blue Jays top 30 but also didn't expect much for Chase.

Yeah this is more about not paying that option on Anderson. Spanberger is a lottery ticket.

So because he wasn't in an arbitrary Top 30 list, it means he isn't a prospect? Dude was drafted in the 6th round two years ago. I mean, he's not some sort of otherworldly get, but there is value there.
