Hader trade ideas

Gonzo75

I would love to play the Twins and White Sox against each other.

White Sox deal inclusive of some combination of Vaughn, Kopech, Madrigal, Dunning

Twins deal inclusive of some combination of Lewis, Kiriloff/Larnach, Balazovic

Whichever team is willing to offer the most and the best part for them is it doesn't impact their current roster (outside of Madrigal).

The Clevinger deal makes me very pessimistic regarding Hader. Teams are probabaly offering quantity over quality and hopefully Stearns doesn't go in that direction. Looks like a boring deadline for this team in what has been a boring season.

There's an hour left till the deadline. Probably best idea to hold tight for the next hour or so before you make predictions like this.

Were you excited by the moves Stearns & company made last deadline?

From what I recall they were mostly met with overwhelmingly negative reaction from the fanbase, yet they turned out pretty well, propelling the Brewers to the postseason.

Exciting moves aren't always the most effective.

Blah to this whole deadline. Unless something shocking occurs its one salary dump and nothing else.

Better to stand pat than to make bad trades. Chances are, nobody offered anything that we would've deemed worthwhile.

Exactly. It's important to be able to see the forest through the trees.

Especially when you can try to trade him again in what 3 months

This team is completely in no mans land. Not good enough to make a run and not bad enough to land a top 5 draft pick. All we did is dump a salary and are no closer to improving arguably the worst lineup in baseball.

Yet a game out of a playoff spot. Team can only improve, right?

One can hope but some sense of direction for the franchise would be nice. TBH I was actually hoping for more moves to signal a punt on the season. Mediocrity is frustrating in any sport. Glad we stuck to our price on Hader though.

What else could they really do? Phelps is probably the only guy on a short-term deal that had any value in a trade. Maybe Gyorko could have fetched a lottery ticket, but everyone else is either underperforming, or a long-term piece.

Stearns has stated the direction numerous times, it is to contend for a playoff spot year in & year out.

By no means do I give away Hader, but man it just feels like now is the time. There are such significant long-term holes on offense (1B, 3B, C, CF, RF) that I just don’t see why holding onto Hader makes sense. Definitely don’t settle but I would think he has more value traded than with the Brewers as currently constructed.

Catcher and any of the OF spots are actually covered rather well for the Brewers in the minors. Feliciano is a good catching prospect and there are a few others in the minors that have some promising futures.

As for the OF prospects they are further away as most are in the lower levels. First base and third base are the real problems but I think those can easily be solved in free agency. Justin Turner is a FA this off season and he could be a target for either 1B or 3B though he is on the older side. Profar is also a free agent this off season he could be someone to target for 3B.

If a Hader trade happens we should see two really good prospects added to the team.

Profar is just more of the same crap Stearns signed this year. .206/.305 this year. Career .232/.315. Besides Broxton, Taylor, and Ray they don't have an OF for at least 2-3 more years. 1B and 3B will not be easily solved in FA. Turner MAY be available, but will be on many teams' list. 1B is a big problem too.

I'd just shoot the moon and send Hader, Phelps and Hiura to the Yankees for Clint Frazier, Jasson Dominguez, Clarke Schmidt and Deivi Garcia.

Next year, killer outfield of Yelich, Cain, Dominguez, Fraizer. Avi moves to DH

Can move on from Braun, plug Gyorko in at 2B and the starting pitching is stacked in waves with Woodruff, Burnes, Peralta, Houser, with Schmidt and Garcia coming. Devin Williams in at closer.

Why in the world would you want Gyorko at 2B? With Arcia and Urias plus Matheny/Sogard off the bench, they have 2B covered. Dominguez's eta is at least 2024 and who knows what things will be like that far away. Schmidt has only thrown 19 innings at AA, so he is not there until 2023. Garcia got crushed in AAA last year and is iffy at best for next year. Frazier .259/.320 is another Avi Garcia at best. I think your package is too light for Hader and Hiura to be moved.

I'm going to be disappointed if we have to wait around 3 years for Garrett Mitchell to make an impact at the MLB level. He'll be 22 in a few weeks, and as an advanced college bat, he should be relatively fast tracked. I certainly hope he doesn't take the Corey Ray route.

Yahnkees get Hader

Brewers get:

Andujar

Frazier

Gil (MLB ready)

Schmidt (MLB ready?)

+ One PTBNL

Urias 3B

Yelich LF

Frazier DH

Huira 2B

Andujar 1B

Garcia CF

Pina!/Narvaez/Nottingham C

Matias/Gamel/Braun RF

Arcia SS

As stated many times on this blog, Andujar has been horrible since his only good year in 2018. He has to prove he is anywhere close to a MLB player again before being part of a big deal. Frazier is another journeyman type with bad defense. Dime a dozen type player. Gil hasn't even seen AA yet, so he is far from MLB ready. Schmidt isn't close either. The Brewers could easily do better.

Andujar has barely played since 2018 so it’s not like he’s been awful since his good year. And if Frazier is a dime a dozen why don’t the Brewers get some players that can have a career 112 OPS+?

I’ve changed my position of wanting to wait a bit before trading Hader to hoping they trade him this off-season (or next year’s deadline at the latest if he can put up some good numbers). Relief pitchers are volatile and this dude looks like the worst reliever in baseball the last couple weeks. I know he’s better than this but he’s shown quite the propensity to implode lately. His reign of most dominant relief pitcher may very well be over.

And there is no way San Diego would even consider trading Gore for Hader even straight up. I’d be hesitant to give of much of anything for him if I was another team’s GM at this point, let alone the best left pitching prospect in baseball.

With a deep farm and Yates being a FA, the Padres would make sense as a trade partner. In addition to a good prospect or 2, Moreland (they have young OF to play) and Mejia (they have Nola and Campusano) would make sense as a trade partner IMO
