Yelich Wins Aaron Award Again

BruisedCrew

I’ve been traveling, and when I checked this board I was surprised that there was no thread on this. Maybe it was addressed in another thread.

This seemed to be a no brainer for someone who led the league in BA, OBP, and SLG, while also being one of the leaders in HR and SB, but it still is quite an accomplishment to win this award two years in a row.

I still think Yelich should be the MVP, but expect him to be second or third.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

He probably won the award so voters could justify giving someone else the MVP.

I know you're probably mostly being sarcastic, but it's different voters.

As far as there being no thread on it... does anyone really care about this award? It's only been around since 1999 so it doesn't have the historical significance. Maybe by the time Yelich is done playing it will mean a little more and a notch in the belt for his HOF candidacy.

Yeah, I feel like it was pretty clear Yelich was the best hitter in the NL this year, even with the missed time.

580 PAs @ 174 wRC+ > 660 PAs @ 162 wRC+

Agree that being the best hitter in the league will only be enough to get him second or third in the MVP voting given all the other factors that get consideration there, defense, team record, narrative, etc
