Game 8: Packers @ Chiefs - Sunday, October 27th 7:20PM

Moore is no stiff. He's at least a backup who has real experience playing QB, to the tune of 7k yards and almost 50 TDs. There is value in that; a guy like that can have a good night or at least be good enough to give you a shot. A disappointing guy like Bridgewater has kept the Saints alive - this is why I was so vocal about the Packers adding a guy like that. If Rodgers goes down for a year, yeah, you're done, but if he's out for a month that can be the difference in playoffs or not.

At this point, I think this would be easier for the Packers if Mahomes did play. There is no way that knee is ready, he would probably be yanked in the 2nd quarter after they start getting blown out and he clearly isn't right. I don't see any way he actually plays. They have a better chance with a healthy vet that's had time to practice and be included in the game plan.

Either way I think it's still a tough game for the Packers, but one they should win.

But it wouldn't be a "good" win if they do?

Never said that it wasn't. Can we stop doing this? I said it wouldn't be a signature win, a statement...which is true. Taking down Matt Moore is not sending shockwaves through the league.

I must have missed the memo where going 16-27 for 160 is carving up a D...because that is what Wentz did to the Packers. And guess what, lots of teams struggle to stop Wilson, Brees, etc. - they are all-pro, HOF caliber players for a reason. You also don’t seem to factor in the loss of Savage and the effect on our pass D.

You apparently did miss the memo where the Eagles backs ran for 160 yards and averaged 6 YPC. Wentz went through them in the 2nd half when he had to move the ball. The only reason he didn't pass for more was because they were gashing the Packers on the ground like several teams have. The Eagles did whatever they wanted.

Nothing I'm saying about the defense is remotely controversial. It has been extremely vulnerable against the rush and has gone extended periods of games looking like the same old sieve. It's a better defense because it's been infused with actual talent and we don't have parade Blake Martinez as one of its best players anymore. But there is plenty of room (and time) for improvement.

The SOS narrative is weak btw. The Packers SOS currently sits 21st. You needn't look beyond this game to see why that's a lame stat. The Packers are playing a 5-2 team without the league's MVP. A team that probably finishes with 11 wins or so and we played them without the MVP. I've never liked that stat, it removes every variable from every match up.

I'm pretty comfortable with what our schedule has been so far. Yes, we don't have a signature @Saints or @49ers road win, but it's been a string of all relatively solid opponents. We're not beating up on the Dolphins or Redskins of the world.

There's definitely some vulnerability against the run, but nearly every team has a weakness somewhere -- look at the 49ers passing offense, and they're unbeaten.

The more the offense improves, the more they can hopefully mitigate the rushing defense weakness by getting leads and forcing teams to play from behind.

While I'd like to see the rushing defense obviously be better, Gute had a lot on his plate this offseason. He had to fix the pass rush, the secondary, the offensive line, and the run defense all in one offseason. I'll take 3 out of 4. Maybe this is still something they can address before the deadline, if not I can definitely see DL or ILB coming off the board in the 1st round next season.

Their schedule's been fine, just not overly hard, which is something I keep seeing pushed on several Packers boards. They've played five games at home (lost one) and got to play Minnesota before they found their offense, then lucked into Mahomes getting hurt. I don't know how the W-L stacks up but the 2nd half appears much more brutal on paper. Like I said, the Packers will not ride an easy schedule to the division with Minnesota breathing down their neck.

If you want a joke schedule, look at who New England has played.

Well they do have 0 division losses to Minnesota's 2 so that is pretty big at this point. Although winning in Minnesota would be huge, they can afford to drop it if they win the other two remaining divisional games.

Minnesota is good, but they're about to hit a gauntlet of tough road games themselves.

Nope, no memo missed on my end since I wasn’t the one who brought up Wentz carving up the Packers D or said anything about our run D. I asked you why they were the most likely paper tiger, brought up a few 2 loss teams and watched you ignore that and say the D is carved up by the elite QBs such as Wentz... BTW, he went 8-14 with 1 TD in the second half for 97 yards... still hardly going “through them in the 2nd half” but you feel free to use that narrative.

I also made no mention that anything you said was controversially about the D, but at the same time they are top 10 in scoring D. If you had wanted to tell me they are a paper tiger because they are in the bottom 3rd in yards allowed, go for it. I personally think they have shown an ability to turn teams over and that’ll make up for allowing more yards. I also think getting Savage back and hopefully Greene should help the D improve as the season goes on.

I do find it amusing, though, that we can’t discount garbage time yards allowed in your opinion (Dak) but we need to discount the Vikings W because they weren’t as good when we played them.

You only have to hit "submit" once. Can we please stop the straw man garbage? There are a few people who have a habit of doing that when anyone is remotely critical of the hometown team and frankly it's annoying. I never said the Vikings win wasn't good, I just said they've evolved as a team. It went as far as Thielen basically calling out Cousins in the media, that offense hasn't been the same since.

Picking apart the box score is a fruitless endeavor. When you are running for 6 yards on every play there is no reason your QB has to throw 50 passes. The Packers did not stop Wentz when he had to throw. That's a fact.

A more concise way of explaining what I want to see is this: I want to see the Packers win a game they're not supposed to win. That's been kind of hard to this point, because I don't think they've played one I expected them to lose. This would've been one, until Mahomes sat out.

Let me clear about this though: If they win tonight, it's a good win regardless. I just really wanted to see Mahomes and Rodgers go at it and see how our defense stacked up against the best. But that wasn't going to happen the instant he got hurt.

I disagree with how you remember the end of the Eagles game.. it isn’t a fact as you state if you’d take a look. He went 3-8 for 31 yards on their last 3 drives, with two punts and a TD... mostly because (as you said) they were gashing us running the ball. In fact, he threw two of those incompletions with about 5 minutes left to give Rodgers time to tie it up.

I love that your getting snippy about strawmen arguments and then say things such as “ When you are running for 6 yards on every play there is no reason your QB has to throw 50 passes.” when I’m not saying he should - nobody did. I’m just saying you are wrong about what he did when you said he carved up the D.

Fun fact, when Baker Mayfield tried that toss play we just scored on, it was intercepted. So, today in the NFL I learned: Packers o-line is good, Browns o-line is not good. The more you know...

You just learned that today?

I had not witnessed the Cleveland line in live action, I had only heard stories of their ineptitude. Those stories were not exaggerated.
