Milwaukee Bucks 2019 - 20 Season Thread

It's incredibly difficult for me to interpret that sentiment as anything other than "I don't like it when entertainers express a view that isn't mine."

Yea, I'm used to ignoring political/social opinions from actors, as an example. Otherwise I wouldn't with many movies or TV series. But that's all off-screen, I wouldn't watch a movie about it. I think that's where I draw the line with athletes. They should be free to have any opinion they want on politics or anything else, and shout it from the roof tops. Just not on game day.

Honestly, calling off the game bothers me less than BLM plastered all over the place and replacing names with bumper sticker slogans. Now, if they take it one step further with the "America sucks" rhetoric that is becoming more common, that's my line in the sand.

I wish that we could get to a place where people had empathy and understanding that America does indeed “suck” for certain people. And that the game of life here, while this country is doing a lot of great things, isn’t indeed good for all. If we could get over that hump to have a bit of understanding for people, we may start to work together and move forward. A lot of these athletes end up millionaires but did not come from that place to begin with.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

I'm on the bandwagon of not having my sports figures make political commentary (i.e. immigration, the president, China policies), but this is a bit different as it is more social than political.

I do wish there were games last night, but understand why they didn't.

My question is do you think the never should make political commentary? That just seems incredibly limiting to them as people.

I believe CheezWizHed is talking about making a political statement while playing not that they can't have political commentary outside of the game.

Entertainers can have a political agenda but please keep it out of the entertainment realm if you want to spout your ideas on politics or whatever on their own time and on their own personal media fine do that. If you are going to do it while playing a game or doing whatever your entertainment is I am going to criticize it and tell them to shut up and just do what they are being paid to do. I don't care about their politics, religious beliefs or what they had for dinner breakfast or lunch that day.

I believe that yesterday's game boycott is the first time actual contests were affected by protests. All the kneeling , arm linking or whatever else other teams have done during the Star Spangled Banner was never done while playing, and was actually pretty easy to avoid without missing any actual game action.

They tried that and it was ineffective. Maybe this won't be either, but you escalate when other things don't work. I don't know how this is lost on so many people. They didn't go from 0 to this overnight.

It sounds like you are bothered by them not playing.

Guys, lets get back to the Bucks.

So they did not "forfeit", correct? Series just resumes at 3-1 still whenever it resumes?

Correct. They were prepared to forfeit, according to quotes from one player. But the league stepped in and PPD'd everything that day.

WIsh Giannis could stay out of foul trouble. Bring on the Heat.

Well that was about as good a 1st quarter as you could hope for.

Late in the 3rd Quarter. Some observations:

- Loving DDV and Conaughton on their perimeter defense. Heat have had very few wide open looks beyond the arc.

- Marvin Williams is getting WAY TOO many minutes.

- Middleton is playing well and seems to be the leader out there on the floor

- Miami is a terrible match-up for the Bucks. I don't expect to blow them out, but every minute is going to be a battle.

- My prediction before the series and game was Heat 114 Milwaukee 106 with Miami winning the series in 6. If Milwaukee can take game 1, I think the momentum would be too much for Miami to overcome.

Bucks have been sloppy tonight and the refs are letting the heat swat a lot. Hill is getting destroyed by dragic. Need bledsoe healthy

Yup...Bled doesn't offer as much in the playoffs on offense, but he's still a monster on D. We need him to defend Dragic.

And now down 8...it's not looking good. Middleton and Lopez played great...but man, Dragic just played great until Butler got going.

No nice way to say this -- Giannis blew it tonight. 4 for 11 from the line doesn't cut it. Even competent free throw shooting would have given us a chance.

I know tonight wasn't a must win, but it feels like it may end up being must win.

Each team had a supporting player play great, the Heat's superstar came through and ours didn't quite play up to his standard.

One game...and I was thinking we were in a lot of trouble at the same point in Game 1 of the 2nd round last year, but this one feels a little different. I REALLY hope I'm as wrong as I was last year...
