I'm not really surprised they've been sluggish. A bunch of time off and then they go back into this fake-feeling experiment, with no fans, their daily routines shaken up completely and they've been slow to adjust. Hopefully that's slow to adjust and not unable to adjust. I don't think they need to lose to an 8 seed to wake up but I won't be too concerned if they do. In a vacuum I wouldn't care less about dropping one game to an 8, but in the context of how blah they've looked it's mildly concerning. If they went down 0-2 I'd be worried.

I can say that even down 18 I didn't, and don't, see the Bucks losing. This is standard NBA fodder. Any deficit under 30 is nearly meaningless until there's about 15 minutes of play left.

Leads can certainly fluctuate and be erased quickly in today's game but I certainly would not call any lead under 30 meaningless. Maybe under 10.

I don't have the data in front of me but I would guess that the odds of winning an NBA game while trailing by 25 at any point in the game are historically extremely low.

I don't want to act like I'm not concerned about this team going forward, because I am. But the nice thing about being a 1 seed is that they can ease into the playoffs a bit and get the jitters out now.

When one team has superstars and one team sucks I bet it's higher than you think. I can't count the number of games I've seen LeBron or whoever go down 17 to the Wizards in the 2nd quarter and win. I don't even bother getting excited by it because it gets wiped out in half a quarter.

I still feel like they're going to win, but the Giannis one-man show is exactly what most of that series with TOR was. If this happens more than a couple times in the playoffs it's going to be the same old knock that they don't have a reliable second scorer. Middleton took a step up most of this season, but he's got to be that guy now.

Every time they start to make some kind of rally they have a really bad offensive sequence and squash it.

That's the problem. It's not about having a big time #2 or #3 scorer. There's plenty of guys who can score when put in a good position to do so. But the entire Bucks offense is Giannis pounding it into the ground at the top of the key. One or two passes and someone turns it over over fires up a contested three. Just really bad basketball IQ for such a veteran team.

Let's give the Magic some credit. They outplayed us. This was not an example of us just handing it all to them. Are we capable of better, of course, but I hope our team is taking them a lot more seriously than many of our fans are. They didn't just eke this out. They dominated this game from the opening tip.

I still think we will *probably* win 4 out of the next 6 to advance, but I do not think it is the foregone conclusion that it was back in March.

There's a lot of assuming going on that the Bucks can just flip a switch and go back to the immovable object they were 6 months ago, and that's not necessarily the case. Things are weird right now. I'm a lot less sure of exactly how things are going to play out than I would have been pre-COVID.

Better take Game 2.

Boston was good though, this team sucks, they should not beat the Bucks. It's one game, but they got clobbered. I'm not too worried, but there is no sugarcoating what just happened. It could end 4-1 in our favor and it doesn't make that performance less pathetic.

It was a little too reminiscent of that Raptors series. Orlando did nothing unsustainably well and everyone but Giannis just turtled.
