I've seen you post this a few times and every time - I give it a go.

I was excited to find this (above), initially, but it struck me as odd. I don't remember the Brewers having this kind of yellow alternate in their past. I also have a Brewers style guide with a semi-detailed history of most (if not every) jersey variation the club has ever had - not in there either.

Not to mention that the pic looks photoshopped, but that was not totally uncommon for sports cards and publications around that time, though I don't recall many Topps cards being shopped like this.

Then I found the source. It's a modern-day photoshop of an old minor league card. Sorry!

And the hunt continues...

This Holdsworth card looks like it's an Oakland uniform. Besides the fact that the "Brewers" across his chest is obviously digitally done, the Brewers NEVER had any version of a yellow jersey until the gold/mustard alternates about 5-8-or-whatever years ago. Heck, in those days, "alternate" or 3rd jerseys largely didn't exist except for Pittsburgh's oddly large combination of uniforms & their respective colors.

In 1979/80, the Brewers were still 14-15 years away from pinstripe-less home pants. Furthermore...

- the brims of both their caps were only blue and the underside was only ever green -- no yellow;

- the only yellow on their caps outside the logo was on the center two panels around the logo on the road cap; and

- the blue of the digital "Brewers" so obviously doesn't match the blue on the uniform trim.

Weird question and I'm sure you've thought of this but have you tried reaching out to the players themselves?

I had a bat signed by Mel Stocker that also had his name engraved on it. I couldn't for the life of me find out where he used it. I contacted every minor league team on baseball reference and none of them could help. This was a couple years ago when Facebook charged $1 to send out of network messages, but I found him and decided it was worth it. He got back to me within the day telling me where he used it, the season it was from and everything. Super nice dude.

I found the webpage that originally hosted the image above. It was from a post or article on "fantasy" cards and the author wrote that he photoshopped it as close as he could. He also said that the picture from a Brewers Minor league affiliate who (according to what I read but did not see with my own eyes) used the Brewers primary colors in reverse.

It is from his 1981 Tacoma Tigers minor league card. They were affiliates of... you guessed it, the A’s.

Facebook message the guys who have accounts. Quick search shows most have an account. Greg Hansell's last Facebook post ironically says he's cleaning his garage and asks if anyone needs any household items, pictures, etc... lol. Respond to the post..
