Game 6: Lions @ Packers - Monday, October 14th 7:15PM

That wasn’t a penalty but that’s the NFL these days.

Eh. If you make contact with a helmet while diving forward, that HAS to get called. The perception is that the NFL doesn't care about safety. They HAVE to call head-to-head hits like that, regardless of intent.

So you would be OK with the offensive player getting the flag there?

Allison was in position and Walker speared Allison in the jaw. If Allison had hit Walker I'd have said the same thing. I said a post ago that I agreed there was no intent on Walker's part, and that's why I believe he wasn't ejected.

No, they definitely do not have to make that call. He's going down trying to catch the ball. It's a violent game. That was just not a penalty on any level. It just happened too quickly, the Ref obviously thought he was trying to break up the play. But that was clearly not a penalty. That'll be one the Lions send to the NFL and get an apology IMO.

Technically isn't leading with your helmet an offensive penalty that's just almost never called?

Yeah, they said they were going to start calling it 2 or 3 years ago and RB's were worried about it. I think they called it a few times in the pre-season games and I can't remember it being called since then. The RB leads with his helmet virtually every play.

The former Ref who works the game said that wasn't a penalty. You can't get called for leading with your helmet when you're diving to the ground trying to catch the ball.

I mean...I guess you CAN, but you really should't.

Packers got that back.

As far as I know the only time you get waived for helmet to helmet is during incidental tackling or blocking. With a ball in play like that, that flag is always getting thrown, right or wrong.

The Ref who's calling the game with them red the rule during the broadcast.

Those 3 points 100% on Shepherd. Fortunate it wasn't 7.

This defense has been pretty incredible in short yardage.

Kinda shocked at how agile Mercedes Lewis looks like after dropping a bunch of weight heading into this season.
