2019-10-01 (NL Wild Card Game): Brewers (Woodruff) at Nationals (Scherzer) 7:08 PM CDT [Brewers lose, 4-3 -- Nationals score 3 runs in 8th inning; Heartbreaking end to 2019]

I really hate this one game WC series.

It was great. You got to win that game if you are the Crew. They deserve to go home. Not good enough.

Terrific game of baseball. Unfortunately a team has to lose. Sucks that it's ours.

Agree comepletely. Some bad breaks and poor execution when it counted. Couldn't add on. That's baseball. Go get 'em next year. Go for the golden era of Milwaukee baseball.

Me too, but I suppose the alternative would have been no playoff baseball.

Too dad the WC teams don't have a 3 game series. One good thing is the Nats used their 2 best pitchers tonite.

No thanks. Hader is done. Just like Jeffress. Just like Turnbow. Just like the litany of 1-2 year relievers. Guy just cost us the division and season. He can go, I really couldn't care less. He sucked.

Honestly can't believe we lost. Three hours thinking NLDS and blows it the second he comes in.

You have had one crap take after another this week. Wow man, take a minute and maybe don't watch sports for awhile.

I love how people want to kill a guy with a sub 2.7 era. We know what he is. Often a 1 pitch guy. Sometimes wild. It's obvious when he's wild and if you see that and pull him you limit the damage. He's not a closer. He is a pen weapon.

My crap takes wound up 100% spot on, lmao. I said the last four days I absolutely hated Hader closing this game out. I said I hated bringing him in when they did in the game we had a chance to tie. I wanted Pomeranz in the 9th here.

Next year when Hader's era is over 5 you won't be calling it a crap take anymore. Over him, he is toast.

I am up for a bet on that over 5.00 ERA if you are.

In professional sports when you let an opponent hang around when you have a chance to put them away you end up losing most the time. Brewers had 12 LOB and hitters 3-5 combined to go 2-12. Hader and Grisham blew it, but they should have cruised to a win before it got to that point.

Blaming Grisham and excusing Hader is just a terrible take. Yes Grisham screwed up badly but at best it was 3-3, Josh alone was responsible for the first two runs and the way he was throwing we certainly can't assume he would have gotten the next guy. Nor would we likely have won the game anyway, good chance we would have just lost in the bottom of the 9th.

Excellent take.

I would call this a play-in game. No playoffs this year for us, but still a pretty great season all things considered. an 18-2 run I assume is the best in franchise history. We lost because our right fielder looked like the worst guy on my softball teams.

That's wrong. This was a playoff game. The clenching confirmed that.

What's Brewers win expectancy % heading to the bottom of 8?

Please don’t! :(

I second this. Jinx box waiting to happen.

Since you asked, when Robles struck out the Brewers were at a 88.1% win probability, and when Trea Turner struck out the Brewers were at a 88.4% win probability.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Hader isn't bad but he certainly is an exceptional talent with limited control on one pitch. Trade him if you can convince some one he's as good as the stats have been. We need a guy to come through, not a wildly effective guy with one pitch sometimes.

The gymnastics in this thread to pretend that Hader didn't absolutely choke this away are astounding. Lmao. Loads the bases and at a minimum ties the game but it's Grisham...ok...

Same guys clinging to the fantasy last year that everything was fine with Jeffress.

Nobody said Hader didn't give it up tonight, quite the opposite. Claiming he is finished is just childish IMO.

Yeah, he choked it away. It happens.

You are saying Hader is done. That is just an astoundingly bad, wrong take.

Yeah no way this is on Grisham. Hader melted down. We had nobody up either so next man up was driving in two.

Thank you. His "take the league by storm" period has passed. He will be an utterly unreliable heart attack from here on out. I pass. If we're smart we should absolutely get rid of him now.
