Base running issues killing them right now. Grandal's "slide", Cain get caught stealing 3rd, and then Cain getting thrown out at the plate.

They are what they are all season. Bad baserunning has killed them all year long. Tough to overcome in a playoff type game.

He left it middle out over the plate. He knows that's a pitch that needs to be 1-2 feet higher

Yep. Could have/should have/would have had plenty of cushion to be able to deal with giving up a solo HR if we had only avoided making dumb mistakes tonight.

Yep. Your best pitcher on the mound has to make his pitches. Hader is amazing but a few choice pitches made throughout this season and we’ve already popped the champagne on this division.

The question becomes, at what point does an extra inning game this late in the season with a wildcard game looming become a fatal war of attrition?

 

The WC game is on Tuesday. A long extra inning loss here doesn’t really effect anything for Tuesday.
