Jeesh. I’m calling this one. If they come back feel free to quote this one. It was bound to happen to have one of these nights.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Craig overmanaged tonight. Davies was cruising and was getting strikes outside the zone called.

Lol...the same strategy that has helped them win 18 of the last 20. Now people question why they do it.

Except without Pomeranz, Guerra, and Hader available.

It has been questioned a lot, and with good reason, not just now...

Guys, assuming we don't come back and the Cubs don't win, the people calling to plan on playing in Washington on Tuesday are not saying anything wrong or ridiculous. 2 down with 2 to go is just not likely going to happen from either the Cards or Nats much less needing to win both ourselves. It's not like you're going to play to lose the next two games, but there's nothing wrong with resting up everyone you want to be available for Tuesday and just getting some innings out of Faria, Burnes, etc. Going all out for something that probably has a 10% chance of happening anyway is a shortsighted move. Just play to win on Tuesday.

Today was the most sensible day to use the big guns in the bullpen. They would get two days rest before Monday if needed. I don’t know...I would have pitched them today under the circumstances of a close game.

Well, the WC is Tuesday. And the "A" pen threw yesterday. So tomorrow seems like the better day....

...it's not looking good tonight. But Cubs and Cards are in a coin flip. Maybe CHI helps us out. If not, everything from here is supposed to be bonus, anyway.

People in this thread were calling this game a loss when it was 2-3...

That was just plain stupid.

Down 2-8, I get it, down 2-3, the way this team has played the last 20 games, was just asinine.

No one said that. Calling it over and done with in a 1-0 game and 3-2 game was annoying, and dumb. That it's now 8-2 doesn't change that.
