2019-09-20: Pirates (Brault) at Brewers (Anderson) [Brewers win, 10-1]

No. Arcia need to be off this team. Smiles way too much.

I'm glad he's happy. I just wish his play justified it.

The belief that a player can’t express happiness without results is bewildering to me.

He has results. They're the least productive results in baseball among regulars.

I'm not asking for a Paul O'Neil meltdown everytime he makes an out, but a little balance might be merited.

I agree. Life is so much bigger than this game. The guy has new baby twins if I'm not mistaken. I honestly think that kind of attitude says more about the person saying it than it does about the person it was directed at.

but it's not like every guy suddenly forgot every piece of advice he gave

Hmm.. I’m interested in who called Grisham “terrible”. I must have missed that one.

Brewcrewin07 two nights ago in the GT. Didn't show for a month, dropped in just to leave that gem, and disappeared into the night again.

He's had a couple other posts since then. Sporadic.

I knew there was no chance he'd go the rest of the season without posting...

He was too much of a regular to go cold turkey. You know he reads this every night and is just itching to contribute...lol

I am honestly not sure why Corbin Burnes is here, because they clearly have no intention of letting him pitch. Is it just a goodwill gesture to the future and his performance last year? You don't normally just burn money and service time for a guy to not play.

He’s still throwing pen sessions, working on stuff.

It’s almost as if some forget they are human-beings.

Human beings who are playing a game for a living. Personally I think the whole Cardinal unwritten rule "play the game the right way" stuff is crap. Most of these guys are going to have a career that spans less than 6-7 years in the majors. Have fun while you're out there, regardless of how your skills stack up. Because once you're done, that's it.

I guess we’ll disagree, then. I want better results at the SS position, but I couldn’t care less that Arcia enjoys himself while playing.

You'd have a hard time wiping the smile off my face if I were a big leaguer and I don't care how bad I performed.

Faria rarely looks impressive.

I assume he will survive the 40 man this off season and they'll make a decision during spring training, but he's out of options and his initial showing with the Brewers hasn't been impressive.

He's the perfect candidate fro their pitching research facility in Arizona. The stuff is there. It's obvious. The command sucks.

This is a good take. It’s a game. They’re big kids. He enjoys the game a lot and you can see it by the way he expresses himself. I’ve never seen him have a negative reaction towards anyone. I’m sure he would love to have a kick ass stat line but it hasn’t stopped him from being himself and enjoying the game.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

I know you're joshing a bit, but that's not really what I'm saying. Of course you want to perform. But I don't see anything wrong with showing some personality on the field while you're trying to do that.

I'm glad for Faria that he got out of it, but when I watch that guy pitch I think, "Poor man's Jacob Barnes."

I was thinking the exact same thing.

There does have to be some context though. Bat flipping when you are losing 9-2 is ridiculous. Winning and losing should matter more than anything

But I do agree with what you guys have said. I’m not an old school rules guys. I actually want nfl players to celebrate tds etc.

What does it say about me?

I love emotional, demonstrative players. Carlos Gomez is my favorite Brewer in recent memory. But Gomez's body language was aligned with his play and the team's play. And Gomez produced.

Arcia has been an easy out for 2 years and my read of his body language has me thinking that seems not to bother him.

Let's hope!

too bad he can't be on the 2020 shuttle squad. That looks like it might just be Devin Williams at this point. Burnes and Peralta could end up on it too.

He is probably just working on things on the side with either the bullpen coach or the pitching coach.
