2019-09-20: Pirates (Brault) at Brewers (Anderson) [Brewers win, 10-1]

Eye Black
All the chatter I've been hearing from people is Brewers sweep over Pirates.

Ostensibly and on paper that's the case-the Pirates are a hot mess. But I just hope it's not one of those series where we drop 2 of 3 and everyone is scratching their heads. Because that's baseball sometimes.

I think everyone knows what happens in baseball sometimes. We also know that the Brewers are not so powerful that they couldn’t suddenly go into a funk either hitting or pitching or both.

Speaking for myself, I’m talking sweep not because I take one for granted, or even expect it, but because it is probably necessary to stay in the division race and would provide a cushion in the wild card race heading into the final week. The two upcoming road series are going to be more difficult to win, much less sweep. At this stage of the season the Brewers have to take advantage of a team that is in disarray, like they did with the Marlins last week.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

and just like that Perez hurts us in the OF...

CC loves him some Perez, always has, it must have killed him when he was DFA'd.

No worries, he's back, and CC just has to play him, even with 3 other REAL OFers on the roster.

I am BOOOOOOing CC!

Every time I see Perez starting, I gag a little.

We see to have plenty of Ofers, and I don't care about the splits. Perez is terrible.

That was quick. Granted, the trajectory of that ball is normally to the wall/over the fence so it's understandable to not catch it...but then you can't compound the mistake by letting it get past you.

Putting balls in play has been an issue lately. It's cost us several runs.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

What a horrible job by that 1B! Getting them down 3-0 right away is great. Break their spines and coast.

That was a big milestone for Ryan Braun. He just got his 30th double of the season, and the 400th of his career.

One of the advantages of playing bad teams late in the year is that they might give you some things.

Two days in a row the Brewers have received gift runs. Now use those runs and build on them. The only thing better than a win is a stress free win that gives the top end of the bullpen a rest.

In other words....POUR IT ON!

Absolutely. If want to get into the post season we have to dispose of teams like the Bucs this season.
