2019-09-19 Other MLB Games with Playoff Implications - Phillies and Braves 1115am

Rizzo is not ready to play. Hobbled after a bunt in the third. He is playing because he has to, basically, and there's probably no concerrn about structural damage.

But he looks bad limping around.

Seems like the Cubs are feeling the pressure.

I think the best way to watch these first 4 cub cards games as a brewer fan is to bask in each team's failures, regardless of the score...then after the final out, take a look at the scoreboard and see which team the brewers gained ground on and don't worry about the other team winning.

Next weekends series might be a different story as far as picking a rooting interest, but for the life me I can't actively root for either of these teams to do well.

Their cockiness is gone. What the brewers did last year to them in September and what they might do to them this September has knocked them down a peg or two.

They know they aren’t better

But it’s not a rivalry... At least, so I’ve heard ;)

There's Smoltz again, complaining about "teams finding loopholes" in lineups because rosters expanded. I'm about 99.9% certain rosters expanded to 40 when he played.

I'm way over that dude and his whining about how the game is played.

Whenever I watch a Cubs game, I play a little betting game. Over under x amount of pitchers Jow Maddon will use in said game. Tonight’s was 7 1/2.

I was just thinking about how slow this game is going to get now.

Rizzo back in the starting line up for the cubs tonight. Wasn't expecting that.

they're getting kimbrel and russell back tonight too.

So much for being in a boot for a week and then being re-evaluated.

He is right around when he should be returning from the original report of 5-9 days in a boot and then being re-evaluated. So it was a day earlier than the earliest expectations of him returning.

Because I am used to dealing with how the Brewers report injuries, the concept of a player returning at the early end of a stated range, much less earlier, is completely foreign to me.

What I heard is that Rizzo would be in a walking boot for 5-7 days and then he would be re-evaluated and a timeline for his return would be set. There were reports that the Cubs didn’t expect him back in September. I didn’t think that would mean that he would be back in the lineup after missing just 3 games.

If the Brewers made the same announcement, after the 7 days they would be announcing whether or not they thought the player’s leg had to be amputated.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Who do we really hate more? Cubs or Cards? It's an obvious "cardinals" answer for me because of all the POS players and managers (La Russa). Along with the constant "baseball the right way" and obvious steroid double standard. Add to the fact that it seems like we own the cubs now and I'm hoping the cards crash and burn.
