Reds @ Cubs 7:15PM

Well, after this one, we'll be either 1 GB the Nats for the 1st WC or 1.5 behind the Cards for the division.

Given that, I'm changing my default assumption that the division is out of reach. Go Nats today. Hope Scherzer can keep them off the board and then we can get within 1 tonight.

Whatever happens, a win from the Crew tonight is immensely helpful from a playoff odds standpoint.

The nice thing about this game is you can root for one team but if the other team loses it's still beneficial.

Exactly, and this will be the case for at minimum a majority of the Cubs/Cards games. It's possible by those last 3...we'll have a clear cut team we're rooting for, but it's very clear this team controls its own playoff destiny at minimum. It gets more and more exciting every day.

All of my inhibitions are gone. I'm vulnerable. I'm full go toward rooting for a division title. No more guarded optimism. It's there for the taking.

Same. Plus its easier to root against Cards than for them.

I find that rooting against the Cards is one of the easiest things I do in the day. Like breathing.

I seems almost unfair that Wainwright is good again. The Cardinals are like a cockroach post nuclear apocalypse.

I’m with you. They seem to always luck out with players or find diamonds in the rough. Cardinals are easily my least favorite team. Cubs are a distant second.

I think the Cardinals produce Tommy Edmans off an assembly line, and just slap a different name on the back of the jersey.

Schumaker, Freese, Descalso, Jay, Piscotty, Grichuk, Wong, Pham, Gyorko, Bader, Edman.

It's gonna suck when Scooter Gennett signs with them and puts up star numbers next year. I always viewed Gennett as the ideal Cardinal.

Nah, they're going to sign Moustakas in the off season.

Hopefully Cards pinch hit for Wainwright here.

I know the Nats pen sucks, but allowing Scherzer to hit there in managerial malpractice.

I mean, maybe if the Nats have the lead and Scherzer was unhittable I let him hit there, but yeah, none of those things have happened.

And with that, the Nats finally break through for a run.
